પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ આજે પટણા યુનિવર્સિટીના શતાબ્દી મહોત્સવમાં સંબોધન કર્યું હતું. એમણે કહ્યું હતું કે, તેઓનું પટણા યુનિવર્સિટીની મુલાકાત અને વિદ્યાર્થીઓ વચ્ચે ઉપસ્થિતિ રહેવું તેમનાં માટે ગૌરવ સમાન છે. પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ કહ્યું હતું કે, “હું બિહારની ભૂમિને શત્ શત્ વંદન કરું છું. આ યુનિવર્સિટીએ દેશ ને બહુ મોટુ યોગદાન આપનારા વિદ્યાર્થીઓ પેદા કર્યા છે.”
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, તેઓનું અવલોકન છે કે સમગ્ર રાજ્યમાં સિવિલ સર્વિસમાં ટોપ પર આવતા વિદ્યાર્થીઓ એવા હોય છે કે, જેમણે પટણા યુનિવર્સિટીમાં અભ્યાસ કર્યો હોય. પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, “દિલ્હીમાં હું એવા ઘણાં અધિકારીઓને મળ્યો છુ, જે પૈકી ઘણાં બિહારનાં છે.”
શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, બિહારનાં મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી નીતિશકુમારે રાજ્યનાં વિકાસ માટે કરેલી કામગીરી પ્રશંસનીય છે. એમણે ઉમેર્યું હતું કે, કેન્દ્ર સરકાર પૂર્વ ભારતનાં વિકાસને સર્વોચ્ચ પ્રાથમિકતા આપે છે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ કહ્યું હતું કે, બિહારને ‘જ્ઞાન’ અને ‘ગંગા’ એમ બંનેનાં આશીર્વાદ છે. એમણે ઉમેર્યું હતું કે, આ જમીન વિશિષ્ટ વારસો ધરાવે છે. એમણે એમ પણ કહ્યું હતું કે, પરંપરાગત શિક્ષણથી આપણી યુનિવર્સિટીઓને નવીનત્તમ શિક્ષણ તરફ આગળ વધવાની જરૂર છે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, વૈશ્વિકરણનાં યુગમાં આપણે સમગ્ર દુનિયામાં બદલાતાં પ્રવાહને સમજવાની અને સ્પર્ધાત્મકતાનો જુસ્સો વધારવાની જરૂર છે. તેમણે ઉમેર્યું હતું કે, આ સંદર્ભમાં ભારતે દુનિયામાં પોતાનું સ્થાન મેળવવું પડશે.
એમણે વિદ્યાર્થીઓને લોકોની સમસ્યાઓના સમાધાન માટે નવીનત્તમ ઉપાયો વિચારવા અપીલ કરી હતી. એમણે કહ્યું હતું કે, તેઓ જે શીખી રહ્યા છે તેના થકી સ્ટાર્ટ-અપ સેક્ટર મારફતે સમાજ ઉપયોગી થાય તેવી ઘણી કામગીરી કરી શકે છે.
પટણા યુનિવર્સિટીથી એરપોર્ટ પરત ફરતાં પ્રધાનમંત્રી, બિહારનાં મુખ્યમંત્રી અને અન્ય મહાનુભાવોએ બિહાર મ્યુઝિયમની મુલાકાત લીધી હતી, જેમાં રાજ્યનો સમૃદ્ધ ઐતિહાસિક અને સાંસ્કૃતિક વારસો પ્રદર્શિત કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.
