প্রধানমন্ত্রী শ্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী এবং মরিশাসের প্রধানমন্ত্রী মাননীয় নবীনচন্দ্র রামগুলাম আজ  ভারতীয়দের এক সভায় ভাষণ দেন। মরিশাসের ট্রায়ানন কনভেনশন সেন্টারে আয়োজিত এই সভায় ছাত্র, পেশাদার, ব্যবসায়ী এবং সামাজিক, বিভিন্ন সাংস্কৃতিক সংগঠন সহ ভারতীয়রা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। প্রধানমন্ত্রী মোদীকে মরিশাসের সর্বোচ্চ নাগরিক সম্মান 'গ্র্যান্ড কম্যান্ডার অফ দ্য অর্ডার অফ দ্য স্টার অ্যান্ড কি অফ দ্য ইন্ডিয়ান ওশান (জি.সি.এস.কে.)' প্রদানের কথা ঘোষণা করেন মরিশাসের প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

 

তাঁর ভাষণে প্রধানমন্ত্রী মরিশাসের প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে ধন্যবাদ জানান এবং দুই দেশের মধ্যে প্রাণবন্ত সম্পর্ককে মজবুত করার ক্ষেত্রে তাঁর ভূমিকার প্রশংসা করেন শ্রী মোদী। দুই দেশের মধ্যে দীর্ঘ ঐতিহাসিক সম্পর্কের কথা উল্লেখ করে মরিশাসে বসবাসরত ভারতীয় বংশোদ্ভূতদের ভূমিকারও প্রশংসা করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী মোদী। ভারত ও মরিশাসের মধ্যে দীর্ঘ সম্পর্কের উল্লেখ করে শ্রী মোদী জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের চ্যালেঞ্জের কথা তুলে ধরেন। আন্তর্জাতিক সৌরজোট এবং বিশ্ব জৈব জ্বালানি জোট উদ্যোগে মরিশাসের অংশীদারিত্বের প্রশংসা করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

 

In his address, Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister of Mauritius for his warmth and friendship and for his contribution to strengthening the vibrant and special ties between the two countries. In a special gesture, he handed over OCI cards to PM Ramgoolam and his spouse, Mrs Veena Ramgoolam. Conveying greetings to the Mauritian people on the occasion of their National Day, Prime Minister recalled the shared historical journey of the two countries. He paid tributes to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Manilal Doctor and others who fought for Mauritius’s independence and noted that it was an honour for him to attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius as Chief Guest. Highlighting the shared heritage and familial connections that form the bedrock of the close people-to-people ties between the two countries, Prime Minister appreciated how the Indian origin community in Mauritius had preserved and nurtured their cultural roots. To further strengthen these bonds, a special carve out for Mauritius has been made whereby OCI cards can be made available to the seventh generation of the people of Indian origin in Mauritius. Prime Minister underscored that India would be supporting several initiatives to nurture the Girmitiya legacy.

Prime Minister noted that India was privileged to be a close development partner of Mauritius. He further elaborated that India-Mauritius special ties played a key role in India’s SAGAR Vision and its engagement with the Global South. Speaking about tackling the shared challenge of climate change, he appreciated Mauritius’s partnership in the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance initiatives. In this context, PM also highlighted the Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam ( Plant4Mother) initiative under which he planted a sapling at the historic Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden earlier in the day. The event featured a captivating cultural programme, with performances by artistes from Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC), Mahatma Gandhi Institute (MGI) and Anna Medical College.

Prime Minister’s Departure Statement ahead of his visit to Seychelles

At the invitation of my friend, H.E. Dr. Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles, I will undertake a State Visit to Seychelles from 27-29 June 2026 to participate in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the National Day of Seychelles as the Guest of Honour.

Seychelles is a valued maritime neighbour and a key partner in our Vision MAHASAGAR and our shared commitment to the Global South. This year, we also mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations which are rooted in mutual trust, shared democratic values, respect for diversity and deep affinity between our peoples.

Building on the successful State visit of President Herminie to India in February 2026, I look forward to our discussions aimed at further strengthening our enduring friendship. Together, we will work to advance the progress of our peoples, and promote security and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.

During the visit, I will have the honour of becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles. This historic opportunity reflects the strong democratic values and parliamentary traditions that bind our two nations.

I also look forward to interacting with the vibrant Indian community in Seychelles, who have been nurturing the special friendship between India and Seychelles for generations, and serving as a living bridge between our two nations.

I am confident that my visit will further deepen the longstanding bonds between the two countries, enhance maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean region, and advance our shared vision of a secure, peaceful and prosperous Indian Ocean region.
