Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed four public meetings at Kutch, Jasdan, Amreli and Kamrej, where he lambasted on the Congress party for neglecting Gujarat and welfare of people of the state. He alleged that mis-governance of the Congress adversely impacted overall development of Gujarat.

“On one side there is Vikas and Vishwas while on the other side there is Vanshwad. Gujarat will never forgive the Congress Party and this has been the case for long. Congress has never liked Gujarat, has always preferred to see it lag behind”, said Shri Modi.

“Congress Party has not done anything, it does not want to do anything and it does not want others to do anything for the people”, he added.

Hitting out at the Congress for not ensuring Narmada waters for people, the PM remarked, “What if the Narmada waters had come to Kutch 30 years earlier? It would have made such a big difference in the lives of people here.”

At the public meeting in Jasdan, he remarked, “When we started bringing the waters of the Narmada here to Saurashtra, there were people who were mocking us. Their negative politics has not changed over the years. Our faith is in politics of development and good governance.”

In a scathing attack on the Congress party in Kamrej, PM Narendra Modi said that Congress was scared of defeat in Gujarat elections and were unable to match the BJP's focus on development and good governance.

The Prime Minister attacked the Congress for spreading lies and creating an atmosphere of pessimism. He said, “Gujarat is my Atma, Bharat is my Parmatma. This land of Gujarat has cared for me; Gujarat has given me strength... They are coming to Gujarat and spreading lies about a son of Gujarat. Earlier they did that with Sardar Patel also. Gujarat will never accept this. No Gujarati will accept the lies that they are spreading.”

Adding further, the PM stated that Congress only talked about one family and they were not concerned about welfare of people and the country. “Does any Congress leader talk about Kamraj, Acharya Kripalani, Subhas Babu, UN Dhebar (who belonged to Gujarat)...no because they only talk about one family... A Pakistani court released a Pakistani terrorist and the Congress is celebrating. I was surprised why. And this same Congress refused to believe our own army on surgical strikes and preferred to believe the Chinese Ambassador.”

Shri Modi said that the Congress lacked Neeti, Niyat, Neta and Naata with the people.

The PM slated that Congress always defamed Gujarat. He said that people of the state were well aware how the Congress had treated Sardar Patel and Morarji Desai.

“Overnight, Indira Ji removed Morarji Bhai from the Cabinet. She did not open the doors of the bank for the poor. When we got the opportunity to serve, the first thing we did was to start the Jan Dhan Yojana and focus on financial inclusion... Morarji Bhai Desai was a successful Finance Minister and a believer in Gandhi Ji. The Congress mistreated him and even when he became PM they troubled him”, said Shri Modi in Kamrej.

Furthermore, he noted, “The Congress dislikes me because of my poor origins. Can a party stoop so low? Yes, a person belonging to a poor family has become PM. They do not fail to hide their contempt for this fact. Yes, I sold tea but I did not sell the nation.”

The PM said that development was the solution to all problems. He said that BJP had served Gujarat without any discrimination. “The development work in Kutch after the 2001 quake is for all to see. Agriculture sector is flourishing. People from the nation are coming here to enjoy the Rann Utsav. The ports of Kutch are handling tremendous traffic. They have become the getaways to India. Due to ports in Kutch commerce is getting a boost”, he added.

Shri Modi also took a jibe at the Congress party for being unable to tackle with terrorist attacks in Mumbai on 26/11. He said, “India was attacked on 26/11 and in Uri. You can see how India responded in the wake of both attacks. This explains the difference between their Government and ours.”

Shri Modi alleged that at every opportunity, Congress had indulged in corruption. On the matter of demonetisation, the PM pointed out that it was a move to ensure the poor get their due. “We will not allow this nation to be looted. We are not here for power, we are here for 125 crore Indians. We want to take India to new heights of glory”, he said.

June 28, 2026

At a special ceremony, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was today conferred with a Presidential Distinction - ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ by the President of Seychelles, H.E. Dr. Patrick Herminie. The honour has been conferred upon Prime Minister for his green leadership, and efforts towards advancing the interests of developing countries and his longstanding commitment towards promoting the Blue Economy, climate action, sustainable management of ocean resources, and the developmental aspirations of Small Island Developing States. This is the first time that this distinguished honour has been bestowed.

Prime Minister dedicated the honour to all the countries who are committed to environmental conservation and fighting climate change. He underlined that the recognition, at a time when both countries are celebrating 50 years of their diplomatic relations, would go a long way in further enhancing the special friendship. The honour acknowledges Prime Minister’s longstanding commitment towards a greener planet, including the International Solar Alliance, Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (Plant for Mother), International Big Cat Alliance, among others. This recognition is the latest in a series of such honours bestowed upon Prime Minister for promoting sustainable development, including the Agricola Medal by FAO, Seoul Peace Prize and the UN Champion of the Earth Award.
