यावेळी झालेल्या सभेला संबोधित करताना ते म्हणाले की गुजरातने कोणे एकेकाळचे तीव्र पाणीटंचाईचे दिवस आता मागे टाकले आहेत.
गेल्या दोन दशकांनी गुजरातच्या विकासयात्रेत अनेक सकारात्मक बदल पहिले आहेत.
अधिक लोकांना पाणी उपलब्ध झाल्यावर प्रगतीची अधिक कवाडे खुली होतील, असे पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले. सरकार लोकांना त्वरित पाणी देण्याला प्राधान्य देणार आहेत. पाण्याचा जपून वापर करणे आणि शक्य तितके संवर्धन करणे हीसुद्धा जबाबदारी असल्याचे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले. जलसंवर्धनाच्या क्षेत्रात अत्याधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाचा अवलंब करण्याचे आवाहन त्यांनी केले .
