पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी उपराष्ट्रापती वेंकय्या नायडू यांना त्यांच्या राष्ट्रपती कार्यालयातील वर्षपुर्ती निमित्त आयोजित समारंभात,”मुव्हिंग ऑन, मूव्हिंग फॉरवर्ड – ए इयर इन ऑफिस” या पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन केले आणि राष्ट्रपतींना या पुस्तकाची पहिली प्रत सादर केली.
या प्रसंगी बोलताना पंतप्रधान म्हणाले की, श्री व्यंकय्या नायडूसह काम करण्याची संधी त्यांना अनेक वर्षे मिळाली असून श्री. नायडू यांनी इतर गोष्टींपेक्षा जबाबदारीवर (कार्यभार) अधिक जोर दिला आहे.
पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले की श्री. व्यंकय्या नायडू यांनी नेहमीच, दिलेल्या कामाला योग्य न्याय दिला आहे त्यांनी अत्यंत खंबीरपणे असलेली भूमिका निभावली असून ते गेले ५० वर्षे सतत सार्वजनिक जीवनात कार्यरत आहेत. यापैकी त्यांनी विद्यार्थी राजकारणात10 वर्षे आणि राज्य तसेच राष्ट्रीय राजकारणात 40 वर्षे जबाबदारीने काम केले आहे.
श्री. नरेंद्र मोदी म्हणाले की, श्री. व्यंकय्या नायडू यांची सर्व विभागांतील लोकांशी समतोल साधून काम करण्याची क्षमता आहे, तसेच ते शिस्तप्रिय आहेत. जेव्हा ते जबाबदारी घेतात तेव्हा ते दृष्टिकोनात्मक नेतृत्व बहाल करतात. नियुक्त केलेल्या कामासाठी न्याय मिळवुन देण्याकरता सर्वोत्तम तज्ज्ञ त्यांना मिळतात, असे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले.
पंतप्रधानांनी आठवण करून दिली की, माजी पंतप्रधान श्री अटलबिहारी वाजपेयी यांची व्यंकय्या नायडू यांना आपल्या कॅबिनेटमध्ये घ्यायची इच्छा होती आणि व्यंकयाजींना त्यांनी याबाबत विचारले असता, व्यंकय्याजींनी ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालयाचा कार्यभार मागितला कारण ते तन -मनाने शेतकरी असून शेतकऱ्यांच्या तसेच कृषी क्षेत्राच्या कल्याणाची त्यांना विशेष काळजी असल्याचे पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले.
पंतप्रधान म्हणाले की, श्री. व्यंकय्या नायडू यांच्या अथक प्रयत्नांमुळे प्रधान मंत्री ग्राम सडक योजना अस्तित्वात आली. जेव्हा राजकीय चर्चासत्रात रेल्वे स्टॉपपेज हा मुद्दा केंद्रस्थानी होता, तेव्हा नायडूजींची खात्री पटली की नेत्यांनी रस्ते आणि अन्य प्रकारच्या कनेक्टिव्हिटीबद्दल अधिक विचार करायला हवा, असे पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले.
पंतप्रधानांनी उपराष्ट्रपतींच्या भाषण शैलीची आणि कार्यक्रमातील भाषणात ते करत असलेल्या शब्द फेकीची प्रशंसा केली, मग ती इंग्रजी असो किंवा तेलगू असो.
पंतप्रधान पुढे म्हणाले की, उपराष्ट्रपतींनी पहिल्याच वर्षी आपल्या कामाचे अहवाल कार्ड सादर केले असून, यामध्ये त्यांनी संसदेत आणि संसदे बाहेर दोन्ही बाजूंनी केलेल्या अद्वितीय कार्याचा उल्लेख आहे.
