പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ശ്രീ നരേന്ദ്രമോദി ഗുജറാത്തിലെ സബര്മതി ആശ്രമത്തിന്റെ ശതവാര്ഷികാഘോഷ ചടങ്ങുകളില് പങ്കെടുത്തു. മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധിയുടെ ചിന്തകള്ക്ക് ലോകം ഇന്ന് അഭിമുഖീകരിക്കുന്ന വെല്ലുവിളികള്ക്ക് പരിഹാരം കാണാനുള്ള ശക്തിയുണ്ടെന്ന് ചടങ്ങില് സംസാരിക്കവെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു.

ഒരു സമൂഹം എന്ന നിലയില് നമ്മുടെ ചരിത്രവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് നില്ക്കേണ്ടത് അനിവാര്യമാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ഓര്മ്മിപ്പിച്ചു. ശ്രീമദ് രാജ് ചന്ദ്രാജിയുടെ 150-ാം ജന്മവാര്ഷികദിനത്തില് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സംഭാവനകളെക്കുറിച്ച് ഓര്മ്മിപ്പിച്ച പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മോദി, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ജീവിതത്തെയും ചിന്തകളെയുംകുറിച്ച് അക്കാദമികതലത്തില് കൂടുതല് ഗവേഷണങ്ങള് ആവശ്യമാണെന്നും ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.

ശുചിതത്വത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിക്കവെ അത് ഓരോരുത്തരുടെയും സ്വഭാവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാകണമെന്നും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നിര്ദ്ദേശിച്ചു. 2019ല് മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ 150-ാം ജന്മവാര്ഷികത്തില് നമുക്ക് നല്കാന് കഴിയുന്ന ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ശ്രദ്ധാജ്ഞലിയായിരിക്കുമതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.

ലോകത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ ഭാഗത്തുള്ളവരോടും സബര്മതി ആശ്രമം സന്ദര്ശിക്കാന് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു.

ഗോജാഗ്രതയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ശക്തമായ പ്രസ്താവന തന്നെ നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ട്, ''നമ്മുടേത് അഹിംസയുടെ ഭൂമിയാണ്, നമ്മുടേത് മഹാത്മാ ഗാന്ധിയുടെ ഭൂമിയാണ്. മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധിയേയും ആചാര്യ വിനോബഭാവേക്കാളും ഗോസംരക്ഷണത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിച്ച മറ്റാരുമുണ്ടാവില്ല. അതേ, അത് നടപ്പാകണം.'' പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
ഗോഭക്തിയുടെ പേരില് മനുഷ്യനെ കൊല്ലുന്നത് അംഗീകരിക്കാനാവില്ലെന്ന് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി തറപ്പിച്ച് പറഞ്ഞു. ഇത് മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധി അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നതല്ലെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി. ഒരു സമൂഹം എന്ന നിലയില് ഇവിടെ അക്രമങ്ങള്ക്ക് സ്ഥാനമില്ല, രാജ്യത്തെ ഒരു വ്യക്തിക്കും നിയമം കൈയിലെടുക്കാനുളള അവകാശമില്ലെന്നും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നല്കി.

മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധിയുടെ സ്വപ്നത്തിലുള്ള ഇന്ത്യ സൃഷ്ടിക്കാനായി എല്ലാവരും ഒന്നിച്ച് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കണമെന്ന് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു. നമ്മുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമരസേനാനികള്ക്ക് അത് അഭിമാനം നല്കുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.
