India's progress lies in Jan Bhagidari: PM Modi

At 'Meri Kashi' book release event in Varanasi, PM Narendra Modi remarked that his bond with the city was not limited to government programmes or budgets but it was much deeper.

He recalled how when he had come to Kashi to file his nomination papers in 2014, the people of Varanasi were wondering what would happen ahead.

Shri Modi said that the people of Kashi had the right to ask him about the work done for the constituency. "Throughout the later part of 2013 and 2014 campaign I had said that I will leave no stone unturned to serve the people of India... I am clear, I don't want to do anything for myself. I am not here for that... With the blessings of Baba Bholenath I want to work for my country", he added.

The Prime Minister stated that the future belonged to India and the world was taking note of India's economic strength.

Shri Modi also appreciated the people of Varanasi for furthering the cleanliness movement. He noted how cleanliness had become a mass movement and urged people to collectively work towards development of the historic city.
