Addressing the gathering, PM Modi stated that visiting the Barak Valley, a land defined by its culture and vibrancy, is always a deeply special experience for him. The Prime Minister remarked that Silchar serves as the gateway to this valley, where history and language have merged to create a unique regional identity. Shri Modi noted that the region’s strength lies in its diversity, where Bengali, Assamese, and tribal traditions flourish together in harmony. “The diversity of the Barak Valley is its greatest asset, fostering a spirit of brotherhood among its citizens” affirmed Shri Modi.

The Prime Minister observed that the fertile plains and tea gardens of the region have long been the backbone of its local economy and trade routes. PM Modi stated that today’s inauguration of projects worth thousands of crores will further empower the Barak Valley as a logistics hub for the entire North East. Shri Modi noted that these initiatives in rail, road, and education are designed to create vast employment opportunities for the local youth. The Prime Minister pointed out that the region is now being positioned to connect not just the state, but the neighboring regions of West Bengal and the North East. "Barak Valley is going to become a major logistics and trade hub for the North East," remarked Shri Modi.

The Prime Minister remarked that the current government is making the region the centerpiece of India’s Act East Policy. PM Modi noted that the current administration is working to restore its industrial glory. The Prime Minister observed that a historic milestone was reached today with the ground-breaking ceremony for the ₹24,000 crore Shillong-Silchar High-Speed Corridor. He stated that this Access Controlled Corridor is the first of its kind in the North East and ends a decades-old wait for the people. Shri Modi noted that this corridor will link Silchar to Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura, and eventually to the vast markets of South-East Asia. The Prime Minister pointed out that this connectivity will provide an immense boost to local industry, agriculture, and tourism. "Barak Valley is going to be connected to a very bright future," affirmed Shri Modi.

The Prime Minister stated that the new Silchar flyover will provide much-needed relief from the traffic congestion that has long troubled the city's residents , this infrastructure is a major boon for students at Silchar Medical College, NIT, and Assam University, saving their precious time. Noting that the electrification of over 2,500 kilometers of Assam’s rail network will ensure faster travel, Shri Modi observed. “High-speed, clean rail transport will significantly benefit the pristine environment of the Barak Valley”.

The Prime Minister said that the tea garden workers and farmers of the valley have contributed immensely in Assam’s development. He said that so far more than ₹20,000 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi has been transferred to the farmers of Assam. Shri Modi further noted that just yesterday, thousands of farmers in the Barak Valley also received money in their bank accounts. The Prime Minister added that this assistance is helping farmers meet their small but important needs related to agriculture. Shri Modi noted that the establishment of the region’s first Agriculture College at Patharkandi will transform the valley into a hub for agricultural research. The Prime Minister pointed out that this institution will provide the necessary support for local youth to launch successful agri-startups. "Barak Valley will now be known for agricultural studies and research," stated Shri Modi.

Shri Modi stated that the current government follows the mantra of prioritizing those who have been left behind in the race for development. The Prime Minister remarked that while border villages were once considered the "last" villages, his government views them as the "first" villages of the nation. He noted that the Vibrant Village Program, expanded from Cachar district, is already bringing visible improvements to border habitations. The Prime Minister pointed out that the historical neglect of these areas is now being replaced by proactive development and strategic focus. "We consider the border villages as the first villages of the country," affirmed the Prime Minister.

PM Modi remarked that these efforts are opening doors to a golden future for the children of workers who were previously neglected. He said that education, skill development, and health have become the primary pillars of the current government’s regional strategy. "The doors of a golden future are opening for the youth of the tea gardens," noted Shri Modi.

The Prime Minister observed that while the youth of Assam now have an open sky of opportunities in the semiconductor and tech sectors, the current era of peace and progress has been achieved through immense sacrifices and must be protected from regressive forces. The Prime Minister pointed out that a befitting reply must be given to any force trying to push the state back into its troubled past. “Assam is now becoming an important part of India’s semiconductor sector. The ecosystem and talent related to next-generation technology are getting ready here,” affirmed Shri Modi.

The Prime Minister observed that during global crises and wars, the current government is working with full strength to minimize the impact on Indian citizens. Shri Modi noted that the region’s journey on the path of progress is now unstoppable, supported by its rich language and culture. PM Modi remarked that the development projects inaugurated today are just the beginning of a new era for the valley. March 14, 2026
The days of TMC’s hooliganism are coming to an end. The countdown for the departure of the TMC government has begun: PM Modi in Kolkata rally
Due to infiltration, Bengal’s ‘roti, beti and mati’ are under threat. Jobs of local people are being snatched away, security of our daughters is at risk and illegal encroachments are taking place: PM Modi
I assure the mothers and sisters of Bengal that under a BJP government, women will be safe and criminals will be behind bars: PM Modi’s promise to West Bengal
First the Congress, then the Communists and now the TMC - they kept coming one after another, filling their pockets while development work in Bengal remained stalled: PM’s concern in West Bengal

Addressing a massive public meeting at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “This historic land of Bengal, this historic ground of Brigade Parade and this sea of people reflect the enthusiasm and spirit of the people. If anyone wants to know what Bengal is thinking and what lies in the hearts of its people, they should just look at these scenes.” He also gave a clarion call from Brigade Ground, “Paltano Dorkaar, Chai BJP Sorkaar.”

The Prime Minister said, “Today once again, from Brigade Ground, the bugle of a new revolution for Bengal has been sounded. The winds of change in Bengal are now written on the walls and etched in the hearts of the people. The end of the ruthless government in Bengal is inevitable, and the era of lawlessness will come to an end.”

Taking a swipe at the opposition, he remarked, “Yesterday, the TMC insulted all of you who came to this rally by calling you thieves. The enlightened people of Bengal know very well who the real thieves are. Seeing their power slipping away, the ruthless government here has become desperate.”

Prime Minister Modi emphasised the vision of development and employment for the state. He said, “Bengal’s development will happen with honest intent and the right policies. Even though we do not have a government here, the central government is working day and night for the development of Bengal. Today, I have inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than ₹18,000 crore.”

He added, “Just a few days ago, the Union Cabinet approved multi-tracking railway projects for West Bengal, which will improve connectivity and benefit common citizens, farmers, traders and students.”

Highlighting concerns about unemployment and migration, PM Modi asserted, “Bengal’s youth are among the most talented and hardworking in the country. There was a time when Bengal powered the development of India and led in trade and industry. But today, many young people are forced to migrate to other states in search of work.”

Criticising past governments, he stated, “First the Congress, then the Communists and now the TMC - they kept coming one after another, filling their pockets while development work in Bengal remained stalled.”

Referring to welfare schemes of the central government, he said, “The TMC government has only one agenda, they will neither work themselves nor allow others to work. Until they get their ‘cut money’, they do not allow schemes to reach the poor.”

PM Modi spoke at length about the Central Government’s schemes. He added, “Schemes like PM Vishwakarma, PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission and Ayushman Bharat are benefiting people across the country, but in Bengal these schemes are being stalled or obstructed.”

Speaking about law and order and women’s safety, he said, “The land that worships Shakti cannot accept a situation where mothers worry about their daughters’ safety. I assure the mothers and sisters of Bengal that under a BJP government, women will be safe and criminals will be behind bars.”

Raising concerns about the political atmosphere in the state, the Prime Minister said, “The dangerous demographic changes in Bengal have made the state insecure. Today, open threats are being made. It is being said that people of a particular community will come together to eliminate others. Sitting in constitutional positions, such threats are being issued against crores of Bengalis. I want to ask -who are these people who claim they can eliminate crores of citizens at the signal of the TMC government?”

Training his guns against the TMC government, the PM stated, “Politics of intimidation and fear has become a weapon for the TMC. Voters are threatened during elections, critics of the government are threatened, the media is threatened and the opposition is threatened. The entire country should know the atmosphere of fear that they want to create in Bengal.”

The Prime Minister remarked that such politics would not continue for long. “The days of TMC’s hooliganism are coming to an end. The countdown for the departure of the TMC government has begun. After the formation of a BJP government in Bengal, everyone will be held accountable,” he said.

Speaking about the alleged insult to the tribal community, the Prime Minister referred to the recent visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. He said, “The Dalit, tribal and poor communities are among the most harassed sections under the present government in Bengal. Recently, our respected President, a daughter of the tribal community, Droupadi Murmu ji, visited Bengal to attend a sacred Santhal tribal festival. But the arrogant state government not only boycotted the event but also left it in complete mismanagement.”

Criticising the governance in the state, the Prime Minister said, “The TMC government has pushed Bengal into complete anarchy. Constitutional institutions are repeatedly attacked. Whenever the Election Commission tries to ensure free and fair elections or attempts to purify the voter list, the TMC starts attacking it.”

PM Modi also raised concerns about infiltration and demographic changes in the state. He said, “Due to infiltration, Bengal’s ‘roti, beti and mati’ are under threat. Jobs of local people are being snatched away, security of our daughters is at risk and illegal encroachments are taking place on Bengal’s land.”

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said, “The massive gathering here today reflects the awakening of Bengal. From the hills of Darjeeling to the islands of Sundarbans, from the tea gardens of North Bengal to the streets of Kolkata, one voice is rising everywhere, Bengal wants change, and that change will happen.”
