பிரதமர் திரு. நரேந்திர மோடி அவர்கள் போட்டாடில் சவுனி (சவுராஷ்ட்ரா நர்மதா அவ்தாரண் பாசனம்) தொடர்பான திட்டத்தின் முதல் கட்டத்தை இன்று நாட்டிற்கு அர்ப்பணித்தார். சவுனி திட்டத்தின் இரண்டாவது கட்டத்திற்கு அவர் இன்று அடிக்கல் நாட்டி தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.
அதற்கு முன்பாக, அவர் நர்மதா நதி நீரை கிருஷ்ணா சாகருக்குக் கொண்டு வருவதை ஒரு பொத்தானை அழுத்தியும், மலர்களைத் தூவியும் தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.
அங்கு நடைபெற்ற பொதுக்கூட்டம் ஒன்றில் பேசிய பிரதமர் இந்த நீர் இயற்கையிடமிருந்து கிடைக்கும் புனிதமானது என்று குறிப்பிட்டார். நர்மதா நதியின் ஆசியுடன் தான் இந்த நீர் இப்போது சவுராஷ்ட்ரா பகுதியை அடைந்துள்ளது என்றும் அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார். எண்ணற்ற முயற்சிகளைத் தொடர்ந்தே இந்த நீர் இப்போது கிடைத்துள்ளது என்றும், இது விவசாயிகளுக்குப் பலனளிப்பதாக இருக்கும் என்றும் பிரதமர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
நதிநீரை சேமிப்பது, நர்மதாவைக் காப்பாற்றுவது ஆகிய விஷயங்களில் மேற்கொண்ட முயற்சிகளுக்காக அவர் மத்தியப் பிரதேச முதல்வர் திரு. சிவ்ராஜ் சிங் சவுஹானையும் பாராட்டினார்.
சொட்டுநீர்ப் பாசன முறையைப் பெருமளவில் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டுக் கொண்ட அவர், விவசாயத் துறையில் வருமானத்தை இரட்டிப்பாக்குவதற்கான வழிகள் குறித்து மத்திய அரசு தீவிரமாக சிந்தித்து வருவதாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
