ਸ੍ਰੀਲੰਕਾਈ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ-Yes and India helped us. Send India, for us to play, to show the world that it’s a secure place. And that’s one of the reasons that Sri Lanka went on to win the World Cup. So we are very grateful to India.
ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ- ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਨਿਰਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਕੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਮ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਭੱਜ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਲੇਅਰਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਐਪਰੀਸ਼ੈਂਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਖੇਡਦਿਲੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੋ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਸ੍ਰੀਲੰਕਾ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਝੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਸੀਬ ‘ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਿਆ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਆਏ, ਚਲੋ ਭਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਭੀ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਕੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਖੇਡ ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਐਪਰੀਸ਼ਿਏਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਅੱਜ ਭੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ, ਉਹ ਸਪੋਰਟਸਮੈਨ ਸਪਿਰਿਟ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ, ਇੱਕ ਤਰਫ਼ ਬਮ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਸੀ, ਦੂਸਰੀ ਤਰਫ਼ sportsman spirit ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਮ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸਪੋਰਟਸਮੈਨ ਸਪਿਰਿਟ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਇਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸਪਿਰਿਟ ਅੱਜ ਭੀ ਹੈ। ਜੈਸੇ 1996 ਉਸ ਬਮ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਨੇ ਯਾਨੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਲੰਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। 2019 ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਥੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਮ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਚਰਚ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਹੋਈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨੇਤਾ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਲੰਕਾ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਮ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਭੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਆਈ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਬਮ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮਤਲਬ ਸਪਿਰਿਟ ਕੰਟਿਨਿਊ ਹੈ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਲੰਕਾ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਸੁਖ-ਦੁਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਥ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਇਹ ਸਪਿਰਿਟ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਵੈਸੇ ਦਾ ਵੈਸਾ ਹੈ।
ਸ੍ਰੀਲੰਕਾਈ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ- As a Sri Lankan, as a neighbourhood country, I umpired the World Cup final in your Ahmedabad ground and that is the biggest ground in the whole world. Actually, that was a fantastic atmosphere and fantastic ground for cricket. And I think everyone loves to play and umpire over there.
ਸ੍ਰੀਲੰਕਾਈ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ-Sir, my first tour was to India in 1990, my first year. That was my first tour. And the same memories I have, because I was there in India for a month. I came about five days ago. We regularly visit India. And I would say, whenever Sri Lanka is in crisis, especially financially, India always steps up and to give that support. So we are ever thankful to India because we feel that India is our brother. So we feel home when we go to India. So thank you, sir. Thank you.

So we are always grateful and thank you for helping our country. We are grateful to you sir for helping Sri Lanka. And also, I have a small request, sir. As a coach of Sri Lanka Cricket at the moment we play all over Sri Lanka, except Jaffna. I want, as a coach of Sri Lanka Cricket, I would love it if India can help us to bring an international ground in Jaffna. That will be a big help for the people in Jaffna, north and eastern part, so that we are lacking at the moment… So we will not isolate the northern part, so they will also come very closely, work with the Sri Lanka Cricket and we are working on it at the moment, but it will get more closer if you play international games in Jaffna. So I have a small request sir, if you can help to bring something.
