While a majority is necessary for forming a stable government, a consensus is required for running the country smoothly: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation after the BJP achieved an overwhelming victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha election results on Thursday. Delivering an inspiring speech, PM Modi thanked the people of the country for their wholehearted support and assured them of greater progress in the years to come.

Addressing the massive crowd of supporters and party workers gathered to hear their leader, PM Modi promised them that he would devote each second of his time for the well-being of his people. In this regard, he also said, “From now on, India will only have two castes: the poor and those that want to remove poverty. The people of India have given their mandate that they want the nation to rise above petty politics of division and appeasement and want to focus on transforming India into a global superpower in the future.”

Reiterating his party’s everlasting commitment to the Constitution of India and India’s federal structure, PM Modi asserted, “While a majority is necessary for forming a stable government, a consensus is required for running the country smoothly and so we all need to leave behind the political bickering that took place in the election campaigning and take along even our adversaries and those in the Opposition for the greater good of our people.”

Lastly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked his rival parties for their ‘fake tag’ of secularism while terming the BJP ‘nationalist, saffron party’ and seeking to divide the country instead of uniting it. He also hailed the election as the nation’s first election which was not fought on corruption related issues. He described the election verdict as ‘humbling’ and said, “We will never leave our guiding principles, values and ideals behind even though we have come back to power. This election verdict is not a victory for the BJP or Modi, it is the victory of millions of ordinary Indians.”
