पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी आज नवी मुंबईत आंतरराष्ट्रीय विमानतळाच्या शिलान्यास समारंभाला उपस्थित राहिले. नवी मुंबईत झालेल्या एका समारंभात त्यांनी जवाहरलाल नेहरू पोर्ट ट्रस्ट येथील चौथ्या कंटेनर टर्मिनलचे लोकार्पण केले.
यावेळी उपस्थितांना संबोधित करतांना पंतप्रधान म्हणाले की, शिवाजी महाराजांच्या जयंतीच्या एक दिवस अगोदर मी आज महाराष्ट्रात आलो आहे.
जागतिकीकरण हे आजच्या काळातील वास्तव आहे आणि जागतिकीकरणाबरोबर चालताना आपल्याला सर्वोत्तम दर्जाच्या पायाभूत सुविधा आवश्यक आहेत. सागरमाला प्रकल्प हा केवळ बंदरांचा विकास नाही तर बंदर प्रणित विकास आहे. जागतिक स्तरावरील पायाभूत सेवा देण्यावर आमचा जोर असून जलमार्गांच्या विकासासाठी केंद्र सरकार प्रयत्न करत असल्याचे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले.
नवी मुंबई विमानतळ प्रकल्प अनेक वर्षे प्रलंबित होता, असे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले. रखडलेल्या प्रकल्पांमुळे अनेक समस्या निर्माण होतात असे सांगून ते म्हणाले की असे प्रकल्प पूर्ण करण्याला प्राधान्य देण्यासाठी ‘प्रगति’ उपक्रम सुरू केला.
भारताचे विमान उड्डाण क्षेत्र वेगाने वाढत असून विमानप्रवास करणाऱ्यांच्या संख्येत लक्षणीय वाढ झाली असून यामुळे हवाई क्षेत्रातील दर्जेदार पायाभूत सुविधांना अधिक महत्त्व प्राप्त होते असे ते म्हणाले. या क्षेत्रात परिवर्तन घडवून आणण्यासाठी केंद्र सरकारने हवाई वाहतूक धोरण आणल्याचे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले. मजबूत हवाई क्षेत्र अधिक आर्थिक संधी उपलब्ध करून देते असे ते म्हणाले. उत्तम वाहतूक व्यवस्थेमुळे मोठ्या प्रमाणावर पर्यटक भारतात येत असल्याचे ते म्हणाले.
