PM Narendra Modi today addressed a public meeting in Faridkot, Punjab. Urging people of the state to elect a BJP-SAD alliance Government in the upcoming elections, Shri Modi said that Punjab needed a Government that was committed to welfare of its people and had the vision of development.

The Prime Minister said that Punjab, being a border state needed more security for its people. He said, “Punjab shares its border with Pakistan. For security, the state needs a Government committed to safety of people not only of the state but entire Nation.”

Shri Narendra Modi appreciated the role of Shri Parkash Singh Badal and said that he was a tall leader. “Shri Parkash Singh Badal is a tall leader who only thinks about developing Punjab. With all his might he has worked for welfare of the farmers and youth in the state. But I am hurt to hear bad words spoken against him in the current scenario.”

Shri Modi attacked Aam Aadmi party and said, “Those who cannot be honest, how can we expect them to speak well about Badal Sahab or people of Punjab? They failed in Delhi and will also not win in Goa and Punjab.” He also took a dig at them for calling youth of Punjab drug addicts.

Hitting out at the Congress party, Shri Modi said, “Congress leaders labelled youth of Punjab as terrorists. How can that be accepted?”

The PM added that there could be political differences in thinking but protecting democratic values must be at the core and hence, dictatorship wasn’t acceptable.

Prime Minister Modi said that Centre wanted overall development of farmers and hence had been undertaking several measures for their welfare. “We want our farmers to prosper. We want their incomes to double and hence have initiated several measures. We brought the Fasal Bima Yojana. Our Government's initiatives are formulated keeping welfare of farmers at its centre.”

Punjab Chief Minister, Shri Parkash Singh Badal, several BJP and SAD party karyakartas attended the event.
