Addressing massive rallies at Bijapur and Gokak in Karnataka, on the evening of 30th March, Shri Narendra Modi urged the youth-strong India to take the lead and vote out the divisive politics of the Congress that had ruined the Nation. Recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s views of disintegrating the Congress party, after the freedom struggle, for the progress of the Nation, Shri Modi urged the people to vote for BJP in 2014 Elections and ensure a Congress Mukt Bharat. “Congress won’t be saved and neither can it save the Nation,” said Shri Modi.
Affirming that the end had come for those who ruined the Nation, Shri Modi said that in the 2014 Elections, the Congress party would not only not cross the double-digit number, but would also be left out in many seats. “I don’t think those who have looted the nation can escape. I am seeing the mood from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. In no state will the Congress tally reach double digits. In many states it won’t even open its account,” said Shri Modi. He spoke of how the Congress and its allies’ indulged in divisive ways to stop Modi from becoming the Prime Minister, and stated that this panic was not only the result of their fear of losing the 2014 elections but also of their being aware of where they would land after 16th May.
Shri Modi came down heavily upon the Congress’ tactics of first extending the hand, showing support and then indulging in shrewd policies that would sweep away the Nation’s assets. He accredited the Congress’ Manifesto as ‘Dhokha Patra’, and challenged them to show their track record instead of beating around the bush and repeating the same ‘tape record’ of unfulfilled promises. He spoke of how the ‘Gujarat model’ was the only aspect spoken by the Congress Vice President during all his rallies, and reminded him that the 2014 Elections was not about Gujarat, but about the Nation, about selecting the Leader of the Nation. Citing the Gujarat success story, Shri Modi said that the Congress’ trumpeting of the ‘balloon of the Gujarat model bursting’ was negated by the people of Gujarat who had voted for the BJP for three consecutive terms. Shri Modi questioned the Congress Vice President on whether he disbelieved his mother too, since the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, headed by Smt. Sonia Gandhi, had acknowledged the Gujarat’s model of development.
He also criticized the Congress’ corrupt pursuits that have exploited the people and stated that technological intervention could play a key role in wiping out the rampant corruption levels instilled by the Congress party. “Some say there is no freedom from corruption. I disagree. Corruption can you, one needs the right intentions,” said Shri Modi, while adding that this could be made possible by ensuring a policy-driven state that left no space for discrimination. He also highlighted India’s potency of 3 Ds- Demographic dividend, Democracy and Demand – and spoke of how these could be tapped into for the progress of the Nation.
Commenting on the Congress Vice President’s statement of having the infrastructure plan for India ready in their minds, Shri Modi questioned if the Congress government had needed 60 years to develop a plan, and if so, stated that it certainly would take 600 years to put it in place. “Has Karnataka got ports? Does the sea not constitute a part of your "map"? You took 60 years to make infrastructure maps so you will take 600 years to get them on the ground. Can people wait for 600 yrs,” questioned Shri Modi. He also critiqued the lack of vision on the Congress’ part in envisioning proper infrastructure for the development of ports and thereby the power sector in Karnataka and spoke of how Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s foresightedness in linking the Nation’s development through the Golden Quadrilateral project had seen little progress under the Congress rule.
Acknowledging the collective power of the youth and its impact in bringing about a change in the system, Shri Modi urged the young India to show their potential and power. “Such a youthful nation, what can it not do! It can do everything we can become the pride of the world. Our youth is ready to work hard and the youth wants jobs...all they want is opportunity,” he said, while adding that ensuring skill development would go a long way in making wonders happen.
