On the evening of Friday 10th January 2014 Shri Narendra Modi addressed the 32nd All India Police Equestrian Meet, which was held in Ahmedabad. Shri Modi awarded medals and trophies to the winners of the various events and congratulated them for their wonderful performance.

Shri Modi spoke about the importance of horse riding and recalled the close link India’s history and its heroes such as Maharana Pratap share with horses. Shri Modi said that the Gujarat Government encourages youngsters who wish to learn horse riding. He also talked about the importance of sports in the life of an individual and pointed that the Gujarat government has set up a Sports University and every district will have a sports school. He outlined the importance of both sports and sportsmanship in his address.

He shared that Gujarat is hosting this meet after over 15 years and he extended his gratitude to the Centre for giving Gujarat the opportunity to host the meet after so many years.

Minister of State for Home Shri Rajnibhai Patel, Gujarat’s DGP and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister shares Sanskrit Subhashitam highlighting the importance of protecting nature

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, said that the welfare of humanity lies in the protection and respect of nature. He noted that India’s timeless traditions also inspire us to uphold this righteous way of life and live in harmony with the natural world.

The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam-

“लोकपालाश्च ते सर्वे वासवप्रमुखास्तथा। ऋतवः षट् च ते सर्वे मासाः संवत्सराः क्षपाः॥

दिनानि च मुहूर्ताश्च स्वस्ति कुर्वन्तु ते सदा। श्रुतिः स्मृतिश्च धर्मश्च पातु त्वां पुत्र सर्वतः॥”

The Subhashitam conveys that alife lived in harmony with nature and righteousness is the foundation of happiness, security, and well-being. Therefore, may the guardians of the directions, the principal deities led by Indra, the six seasons, all months, years, nights, days, and auspicious moments always bring blessings and prosperity. May the Vedas, sacred traditions, and righteousness also protect everyone in every way and at all times.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;

“प्रकृति के संरक्षण और सम्मान में ही मानवता का कल्याण निहित है। हमारी परंपरा भी हमें इसी धर्मसम्मत आचरण की प्रेरणा देती है।
