After a grand welcome at Mumbai airport on Monday 30th September 2013 Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Diamond Hall at the Bharat Diamond Bourse at Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex. Shri Modi stated categorically that the nature of politics had changed but some politicians prefer to stay in the mindset of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. He added that nobody can put the poison of caste or divisive in the minds of the youth, who understand only one Mantra and one language- that of VIKAS (development).

Narendra Modi ji spoke at length about the growing trust deficit that prevails across the nation today. He recalled that the end of the 20th century and the first few years of the 21st century were years of hope but that changed in the time to come. He said that the nation placed faith in the current Government but that balloon of trust burst after 2009 and since then it has been a great fall. “The Government has not been able to keep the nation together. This is a Government with whom the entire nation is not ready to walk with. This never happened earlier,” declared Shri Modi. He went on to say that even the allies of the UPA, one of whom is from Maharashtra will not be happy with the state of affairs prevalent today.

He told the audience gathered on the occasion, “There have been a series of problems for the past nine years. Now it is for you to decide. Like the diamond, we need to make our nation shine. Many diamonds have shone, now it is for the nation to shine. And if you all decide no one can stop the nation form shining. There has been some of the other eclipse but it wont last beyond 8-9 months. After that we will reject all the problems and move ahead with new strength..”

Referring to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Dr. Nawaz Sharif, Shri Modi said that efforts were made to show the courage of the Government and even in the press conference all the strongest words in the dictionary were used to give the message to the people.

Shri Modi attacked the Centre for the blatant misuse of central agencies like the CBI and the Income Tax Department. He stated, “They have lost control over everything else except the CBI and a little control over the Income Tax. Now they will see who welcomed Modi, who garlanded him and where do we start an IT raid from. Can a nation run with such revenge mindset?” Shri Modi avowed that for a decade a Centre tried to vilify Shri Modi with lies but he is made of the same soil as Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel!

During the function Shri Modi was weighed against silver and Shri Modi shared that the money from here would go towards building the Statue of Unity, which would be the tallest statue in the world to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Thanking the people for their warm welcome, Shri Modi said, “You have given a strong signal for change and this warm welcome illustrates that. It strengthens our resolve and will give them sleepless nights.” He added that the response he has got here much like a programme in a university among youngsters.

Also present on the occasion were Shiv Sena President Shri Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Gopinath Munde.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the 47th Annual General Meeting of the Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) Society at Teen Murti Bhawan in New Delhi, earlier today.

During the meeting, Prime Minister emphasised that museums hold immense significance across the world and have the power to make us experience history. He underlined the need to make continuous efforts to generate public interest in museums and to enhance their prestige in society.

Prime Minister put forward a visionary concept of a “Museum Map of India”, aimed at providing a unified cultural and informational landscape of museums across the country.

Underlining the importance of increased use of technology, Prime Minister suggested development of a comprehensive national database of all museums in the country, incorporating key metrics such as footfall and quality standards. He also suggested organising regular workshops for those managing and operating museums, with a focus on capacity building and knowledge sharing.

Prime Minister highlighted the need for fresh initiatives, such as creation of a committee consisting of five persons from each State below the age of 35 years in order to bring out fresh ideas and perspectives on museums in the country.

|

Prime Minister also highlighted that with the creation of museum on all Prime Ministers, justice has been done to their legacy, including that of the first Prime Minister of India Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. This was not the case before 2014.

Prime Minister also asked for engaging top influencers to visit the museums and also invite the officials of various embassies to Indian museums to increase the awareness about the rich heritage preserved in Indian Museums.

Prime Minister advised that a compilation of all the legal battles and documents relating to the Emergency period may be prepared and preserved in light of the completion of 50 years after the Emergency.

Prime Minister highlighted the importance of preserving and documenting the present in a systematic manner. He noted that by strengthening our current systems and records, we can ensure that future generations and researchers in particular will be able to study and understand this period without difficulty.

Other Members of the PMML Society also shared their suggestions and insights for further enhancement of the Museum and Library.

Prime Minister also planted a Kapur (Cinnamomum camphora) tree in the lawns of Teen Murti House, symbolizing growth, heritage, and sustainability.
