Shri Modi takes stocks of Buddhist relics at Vadnagar in North Gujarat

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today visited Vadnagar in North Gujarat and observed the excavation works taken up there by the archaeological department.

Buddhist relics dated back to thousand of years have been found at Vadnagar and State's archaeological department has taken up an extensive excavation work since last five years.

Chief Minister said that in ancient times thousands of Buddhist monks were coming to Vadnagar in search of spiritual knowledge. It is believed that eastern belt of India is especially influenced by Buddha but with the finding of Buddhist relics in Vadnagar, an opportunity to study his influence on western belt has also open up, he said.

Youth and Cultural Activities Secretary Shri Bhagyesh Jha was also present on the occasion.
