On July 06th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on his visit to five Central Asian countries and Russia –the first stopover being Uzbekistan. PM Shri Narendra Modi landed to a warm welcome in Uzbekistan’s capital city Tashkent. He was received by Prime Minister Mr. Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan and the Mayor of Tashkent.

Soon after landing, PM Narendra Modi held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan. Both the leaders discussed various aspects of cooperation between India and Uzbekistan.

 

 

My first meeting in Uzbekistan was with PM Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev. We had a fruitful interaction.

An official Welcome Ceremony was accorded to Prime Minister Modi.

Shri Modi also met President of Uzbekistan, Mr. Islam Karimov. Wide-ranging discussions were held between PM Modi and President of Uzbekistan. Shri Modi termed it to be ‘very productive.’

 

My discussions with President Karimov were very productive, aimed towards further deepening India-Uzbekistan ties.

Shri Narendra Modi presented President Karimov a specially commissioned reproduction of Khamsa-i-Khusrau, by Amir Khusrau. The work, written in Persian, is profusely decorated and illuminated with colours including gold and ultramarine.

Both of them jointly addressed to the media. Key agreements to further enhance India-Uzbekistan partnership were also inked in their presence. Shri Modi conveyed India’s keen interest to sustain regular high level dialogue between the two sides during the Joint Press Briefing. The Prime Minister also complemented Uzbekistan for having nurtured Hindi language and Indian culture.

Prime Minister welcomes passage of SHANTI Bill by Parliament

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has welcomed the passage of the SHANTI Bill by both Houses of Parliament, describing it as a transformational moment for India’s technology landscape.

Expressing gratitude to Members of Parliament for supporting the Bill, the Prime Minister said that it will safely power Artificial Intelligence, enable green manufacturing and deliver a decisive boost to a clean-energy future for the country and the world.

Shri Modi noted that the SHANTI Bill will also open numerous opportunities for the private sector and the youth, adding that this is the ideal time to invest, innovate and build in India.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;

“The passing of the SHANTI Bill by both Houses of Parliament marks a transformational moment for our technology landscape. My gratitude to MPs who have supported its passage. From safely powering AI to enabling green manufacturing, it delivers a decisive boost to a clean-energy future for the country and the world.
