Financial Times lauds decade of development in Gujarat!

One of the world’s leading finance newspapers, Financial Times lauds Gujarat’s development.

FT praises visionary leadership of Shri Narendra Modi

FT article comes after several eminent international media houses, think tanks and intellectuals have applauded Gujarat’s growth

USA Congress think tank report called Shri Modi ‘King of Governance’, Time featured him on their cover page.

Gujarat’s decade of peace, unity and brotherhood has made it the centre of attention among many government bodies, think tanks and eminent media houses. Just recently, Financial Times, a leading global financial newspaper covered Gujarat in their story titled ‘Modi puts Gujarat growth on a fast track’ by James Fontanella- Khan and James Lamont in which they lauded the pace of development in Gujarat.

Financial Times describes Gujarat as “India’s most investor- friendly state with a double- digit annual growth rate” adding that many have likened it to China’s industrial province of Guangdong. The report cites a study by ASSOCHAM that states that Gujarat has attracted higher investment in terms of value as compared to any Indian state in the last 5 years. The biennial Vibrant Gujarat summits too have played a major role in this surge of investments.

Along with the impressive growth trajectory, the article also lavishes praise of the leadership in Gujarat. FT has lauded Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi for presiding over an economic transformation, improving roads and power sectors and even rebranded the image of the state. “Admirers say that he has the instincts of a chief executive with little tolerance for underperformance among his officials” the article opines. This growth story becomes particularly noteworthy because Shri Modi took charge as the Chief Minister in the wake of shrinking economic growth and a severe quake in 2001, a facet FT also recognizes.

The decade of peace and prosperity has set the tone for the people of Gujarat, particularly the youth to dream of an even more vibrant tomorrow. “All we want now is development…Modi provides loads of development” says a youngster in conversation with the authors of the story. A Muslim businessman in Ahmedabad told the authors, “Business is really flourishing…people are slowly forgetting the past.” They also cite a Mumbai based journalist for says that he has met people who “marvel at the efficiency of Gujarat” mainly because “the red tape, the bureaucracy are gone.”

On a larger level, FT writes that the international community is being forced to engage with Gujarat owing to the dynamism and vibrancy that has been engrained among its people in the last decade. FT, however is not the first media house stating this. Two months ago, Time Magazine has Shri Narendra Modi on its cover with a story titled, ‘Modi Means Business.’ Penned by their South Asia bureau Chief Jyoti Thottam, Time noted that the development in Gujarat was such that the entire world had taken notice. They cited several sectorial success stories from power to Gujarat being an auto-hub.

Brookings, USA’s oldest and most reputed think tank praised the decade of growth in Gujarat. William Antholis, its Managing Editor opines that Gujarat is growing faster than most places, even in China. In September 2011, a USA Congressional Think Tank described Shri Modi as the ‘King of Governance’. FT marks the presence of Peter Haas, the Mumbai based USA consul general at the inauguration of Asia’s largest solar part at Charanka where he praised the state government for creating an atmosphere for investment.

These reflections serve as an accurate picture of Gujarat and how it has grown in the last decade, powered by the strength of 6 crore Gujaratis and Shri Narendra Modi’s Mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (All Together, Growth for all).

PM Modi sets tone for Assam polls with high-energy Gogamukh rally
April 01, 2026
Assam is world famous for its tea, but soon people will talk about its 'Chip' as well – ‘Chai bhi, Chip bhi’: PM Modi in Assam
Our double engine government understood people's pain, and in just 11 years we built five bridges on the Brahmaputra: PM Modi
The Assam election is about building a Viksit Bharat with a Viksit Assam. The hattrick of the BJP-NDA government is certain: PM Modi
You form the BJP government again and Assam will progress at an even faster pace. This is Modi’s guarantee: PM Modi in Gogamukh

Campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive public gathering in Gogamukh, marking his first rally in Assam after the announcement of polls. The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with enthusiastic participation from youth, women and local communities, signaling strong momentum for the BJP-led NDA.

Opening his address with high energy, the Prime Minister said, “This is my first public meeting after the announcement of elections in Assam. The sea of people in front of me, the enthusiasm of the youth and the blessings of our mothers and sisters clearly show this time, a hat-trick is certain.” Echoing popular sentiment, he added, “Everyone is saying- ‘Aakou Ebaar… NDA Shorkar!’”

Invoking the spiritual and cultural heritage of Assam, PM Modi remarked, “I am fortunate to begin this campaign with the blessings of Lord Shiva at Ghughuli Dol and Donyi-Polo. I bow to Srimanta Sankardev and pay tribute to great sons of Assam like Lachit Borphukan and Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika.”

Highlighting the development trajectory under BJP governments, PM Modi said, “Under the leadership of Sarbananda Sonowal and now Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has witnessed a new era of service and good governance over the past decade.” He emphasized that the election is not just about forming a government but about building a ‘Viksit Assam for a Viksit Bharat.’

Referring to the BJP’s recently released manifesto, he noted, “This ‘Sankalp Patra’ is truly a ‘Mangal Patra’- it brings prosperity for Assam. It lays out a clear roadmap for jobs, self-employment and ₹5 lakh crore investment in infrastructure.”

On women empowerment, he said, “Through the Lakhpati Didi initiative, nearly 3 lakh women in Assam have already become financially independent. Now, we aim to empower 40 lakh women.”

Emphasizing farmers’ welfare, PM Modi said that over ₹7,500 crore has been transferred to 20 lakh farmers under PM-KISAN. He added, “Small farmers will now receive an additional ₹11,000 annually. Our government is also committed to permanent solutions for Assam’s flood problem.”

Contrasting past and present, the PM reiterated, “The youth of today have only seen BJP’s governance. They have not witnessed the dark days of Congress rule when Assam was known for violence, curfews and unrest.”

He added that Assam is now defined by development, citing examples such as refinery expansion, bamboo-based bio-refinery projects, and upcoming semiconductor manufacturing. “Soon, Assam will be known not just for tea, but also for chips. ‘Chai bhi, Chip bhi’-this is our roadmap for a Viksit Assam.”

Targeting the opposition, PM Modi said, “For Congress, power and family come first. They ignored Assam’s development for decades.” He also warned against divisive politics, alleging that Congress is attempting to revive policies of appeasement.

Coming down heavily on Congress, PM Modi said, “The people of Assam have freed the state from Congress’s misgovernance, but must remain vigilant as the party is now attempting to push a ‘dangerous agenda’ for political gain.” He recalled that before 2014, the Congress-led government had tried to introduce a divisive communal violence law aimed at appeasement, which was stopped by the BJP-NDA. He alleged that Congress is once again proposing a similar approach in Assam, exposing its intent to divide society for votes.

The Prime Minister further accused Congress of supporting infiltration and previously allowing illegal encroachments on farmers’ and tribal lands. He asserted that while the BJP-NDA government is taking strict action against such encroachments, Congress is opposing these efforts. Warning that Congress seeks to alter Assam’s demographic balance, he assured that the BJP-NDA government will continue to protect the land, rights and identity of Assam’s people, calling it ‘Modi’s guarantee.’

Highlighting infrastructure growth, the PM pointed out that while only three bridges were built over the Brahmaputra in decades of Congress rule, the BJP government has completed five major bridges in just over a decade, with more underway.

Reaffirming commitment to tribal welfare, PM Modi said, “Our mantra is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. Those left behind will be brought forward.” He highlighted initiatives for the Missing community, including education in native language and youth employment programs.

Concluding his address, PM Modi urged voters to ensure a record turnout. “On April 9, all voting records must be broken. Every BJP-NDA candidate is a soldier of Assam’s development. Make them victorious.” He ended with a strong assurance: “You form the BJP government again and Assam will progress at an even faster pace. This is Modi’s guarantee.”
