Chief Minister’s Teacher’s Day announcements

  • Celebration of 30-day ‘Vivekanand Reading Festival’ in the primary schools of the state from September 11.
  • Setting up of two ‘smart school’, one eco-friendly ‘green school’ and one ‘sports school’ in every district as models.

In a programme held in Gandhinagar today as a part of Teacher’s Day celebration the Chief Minister Narendra Modi felicitated 22 best teachers and distributed prizes to them. Chief Minister also interacted with around 1.5 crore students and teachers of the schools across the state via satellite broadcast. During the programme, the Chief Minister also had a question-answer session with about 15 students on the theme of ‘life building’.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister announced setting up of two ‘smart school’, one eco-friendly ‘green school’ and one ‘sports school’ in every district as models.

The Chief Minister also announced celebrating 30-day ‘Vivekanand Reading Festival’ in the primary schools of the state from September 11. “During the Gunotsav programme the state government found the weak link among the children of primary schools, which was the lake of reading habit. So, as a part of remedial measure we will celebrate ‘Vivekananda Reading Festival’ in the schools”, he said.

Keeping in view the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishanan next year the Chief Minister called upon the teachers to deliberate upon the ways to bring about all-round qualitative changes in the primary education. He asked teachers to stop veiling the shortcomings of the primary education and instead to take the 125th birth anniversary of Dr.Radhakrishnan as an opportunity for strengthening the educational scenario positively during the approaching year - from this September 5, to the next September 5, 2013.

He said the present state government has initiated to honour the best teachers as a part of Teacher’s Day celebration. The government has also live-broadcasted the programme. This will help to build respect for the teachers in the society.

“Gujarat is the first state to come up with Indian Institute of Teacher’s Education’ with a view to produce great teachers”, he said. He appealed the young generation to take up the courses of the institute if they desire to become good teachers and build career in the field of education. The Chief Minister also expressed desire to bring compatibility between the courses of PTC and B.Ed.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also made people take vows to participate in gutkha elimination campaign.

In the welcome address Education Minister Ramanlal Vora spoke about the state government’s achievements in the field of education such as the 100% enrollment in primary schools and drastic decline in drop-out ratio. He pointed out the injustice happening to Gujarat with regard to central aid for teachers’ salaries and for making available the textbooks.

Minister of States for Education Jaysinh Chauhan and Vasuben Trivedi, Principal Secretary to Education Dr. Hasmukh Adhiya, Mrs. Sangita Singh, high officials, leaders of education sector, teachers and students in large number were also present on the occasion.

PM Modi to visit Republic of Cyprus, Canada and Croatia from 15th to 19th June

​At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to Cyprus on 15-16 June, 2025. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over two decades. While in Nicosia, Prime Minister will hold talks with President Christodoulides and address business leaders in Limassol. The visit will reaffirm the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen India’s engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.

In the second leg of his visit, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Canada, H.E. Mr. Mark Carney, Prime Minister will travel to Kananaskis in Canada on June 16-17 to participate in the G-7 Summit. This would be Prime Minister’s 6th consecutive participation in the G-7 Summit. At the Summit, Prime Minister will exchange views with leaders of G-7 countries, other invited outreach countries and Heads of International Organisations on crucial global issues, including energy security, technology and innovation, particularly the AI-energy nexus and Quantum-related issues. Prime Minister will also hold several bilateral meetings on the side-lines of the Summit.

In the final leg of his tour, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister will undertake an official visit to Croatia on 18 June 2025. This will be the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, marking an important milestone in the bilateral relationship. Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Plenković and meet the President of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Zoran Milanović. The visit to Croatia will also underscore India's commitment to further strengthening its engagement with partners in the European Union.
