Chief Minister Presents Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Award to Research Scientists

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on Thursday, had had a very candid interaction with University Gold-Medalists, at Science-City in Ahmedabad. Around 200 talented students sought an opportunity to exchange their views with CM. Shri Modiji presented Dr Vikram Sarabhai Award, for the year 2008-09, to five research scientists.

He called upon the rankers to prove worthy to the task, as society has great expectations from them. However, after independence, self-centred and selfish approach has done a great harm. He said, “Rededicate your self with the spirit of service and devotion to the duty.”

Dr.Vikram Sarabhai Award is constituted by Gujarat Government, which carries cash purse of Rs. 1 lakh and a citation is given to Scientists for their outstanding feat in research. Dr Jaydeep Sheth and Dr Vagesh Shrinet were honored for their research works in the field of industries; Dr M.B.M. Nayar and Dr M.K.Shah were decorated for their feat in Energy sector. Dr Jay Lakshmi Ayier was honored for her research in environment.

CM gave compliments to all awardees, also motivated them to commit themselves for the welfare of society. People have great expectations from them.

On the occasion of Golden Jubilee, Gold-Club had arranged a function, bringing about 200 University Gold Medalists on one forum, facilitating them with a virtuous interaction with CM.

CM observed that milestones are not destinations for them. They must rededicate their talent and skills for the betterment of society. It will fill their hearts with a sense of accomplishment. He asked them to experience the pleasure of serving the needy.

Armed with knowledge and confidence, they may overcome any dam challenge. He enlightened them to remain away from fame, and to remain steadfast in their efforts with best motives, that will lead them to path of achievements. Chief Minister gave a call to devote 100 hours of their time, in any one of the serviceable activity, be it in the fields of education, environment, healthcare or any other social service. He also explained the theme of ‘Vanche Gujarat’ (Highlighting the importance of reading), which will enhance the knowledge-domain.

Education Minister lauded the achievements of youth. Principal Secretary, Science and Technology, Shri Ravi Saxena outlined the theme of the Award. Principal Secretary, Education, Shri Hasmukh Adhiya detailed the objectives of Gold-Club.

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka on 15th April 2026. At around 11 AM, Prime Minister will inaugurate the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira at Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri in Mandya district. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.

During the visit, Prime Minister will also jointly release the book titled “Saundarya Lahari and Shiva Mahimna Stotram” along with former Prime Minister Shri H. D. Deve Gowda ji.

Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira is a memorial dedicated to the revered seer, Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, the 71st Pontiff of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math. Constructed in the traditional Dravidian architectural style, the Mandira stands as a tribute to the life and legacy of the late seer. The Mandira is envisioned not only as a place of reverence but also as a source of inspiration for future generations.

Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji was widely respected for his lifelong commitment to social service, having established numerous educational institutions and healthcare facilities.
