પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ આજે નવી દિલ્હીમાં ઇન્ડોસેન – ઇન્ડિયા સેનિટેશન કોન્ફરન્સમાં ઉદઘાટન સંબોધન કર્યું હતું.
તેમણે કહ્યું હતું કે, જ્યારે કોઈ વ્યક્તિને પોતાની આસપાસ ગંદકી પસંદ નથી, ત્યારે સ્વચ્છતાની ટેવ વિકસાવવા આપણે થોડો પ્રયાસ કરવો પડે છે.
તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું કે, સૌથી આનંદની વાત એ છે કે બાળકો સ્વચ્છતા સાથે સંબંધિત બાબતો પ્રત્યે સભાન થઈ રહ્યા છે. આ દર્શાવે છે કે સ્વચ્છતા અભિયાન લોકોના જીવનને સ્પર્શી રહ્યું છે. તેમણે ઉમેર્યું હતું કે, સ્વચ્છતાને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવા શહેરો અને નગરોમાં સાફસફાઈ જાળવવા અને સ્વચ્છતા રાખવાની સ્પર્ધાઓ યોજાઈ રહી છે, જે ભવિષ્યમાં સ્વસ્થ રાષ્ટ્ર તરફ દોરી જશે.
આ અભિયાનમાં મીડિયાએ હકારાત્મક ભૂમિકા ભજવી છે, જેની પ્રશંસા કરતા પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ કહ્યું હતું કે, જો કોઈ મારાથી પણ વધારે આ અભિયાનને આગળ વધારવાની ક્ષમતા ધરાવે છે, તો એ મીડિયા છે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ ભાર મૂક્યો હતો કે બજેટમાં નાણાકીય જોગવાઈ કરીને દેશ સ્વચ્છ નહીં થાય કે સ્વચ્છતાનો ઉદ્દેશ હાંસલ નહીં થાય. પણ હકીકતમાં આ માટે સ્વચ્છતા જનઆંદોલન બનવું જોઈએ.
તેમણે મહાત્મા ગાંધીને યાદ કરીને કહ્યું હતું કે, મહાત્મા ગાંધીએ દેશને અંગ્રેજોની ગુલામીમાંથી મુક્ત કરાવવા સત્યાગ્રહ કર્યો હતો, અત્યારે ભારતને ગંદકીમાંથી મુક્ત કરાવવા સ્વચ્છાગ્રહ કરવો પડશે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ કહ્યું હતું કે, આપણે લાંબા સમયથી કોઈ પણ ચીજવસ્તુઓનો ફરી ઉપયોગ કરવાની ટેવ ધરાવીએ છીએ. તેમણે ઉમેર્યું હતું કે, આ ટેવને ટેકનોલોજી સાથે વધારે જોડવાની જરૂર છે.
પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ એવોર્ડ વિજેતાઓને અભિનંદન આપ્યા હતા, ખાસ કરીને જન ભાગીદારી મારફતે સફળતા મેળવનાર કેટલાક લોકોની પ્રશંસા કરી હતી.
