Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Almora today. He said, “After campaigning in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Goa yesterday, I'm back among you in Almora today. The enthusiasm people have for the BJP in every state is unparalleled.”

The Prime Minister complimented voters for turning up in large numbers for the first phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh, he said, “After the first phase of polling in UP elections yesterday, it's clear that BJP will win with record numbers. More than us, the public is determined to make BJP win these polls. Voters never leave the side of those who have good intentions.”

Hitting out at the Opposition, PM Modi reiterated, “Those people who never believed in the power of Uttarakhand, are coming to ask for votes from you. In India, we started the world's largest vaccination program, the whole country saw it, Uttarakhand is the first state to set the record of 100% first dose. These people were talking against vaccines and spreading rumours. They used to say that vaccine cannot reach every village on the mountains. These people have so much distrust in Uttarakhand. While the BJP government worked day and night to save the people of Uttarakhand from Covid.” The Prime Minister also heaped praises on the frontline and healthcare workers who made vaccination drive in the hill state a success.

PM Modi mentioned about the initiatives for hilly areas announced in the Budget. “I recognise the power, good intentions, sincerity of people of Uttarakhand. In this Union Budget, we have proposed 'Parvatmala Scheme' to build ropeways for hilly areas. We will build modern roadways and transport infrastructure in the state,” he said.

Amidst the ongoing election campaigning in Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude towards the people for their support and said the double-engine growth of the state became possible because the party was in power both at the Centre and in the state. “This decade belongs to Uttarakhand, don't let this opportunity pass. Recently, projects worth Rs 17,000 crores were inaugurated in the state. The Char Dham all-weather road will benefit Tanakpur-Pithoragarh section,” he said.

During the rally, PM Modi stated, “After 10th March, Dhami Ji's government will work aggressively to further develop tourism sector in Uttarakhand. You have to decide whom do you want in power, whether those who promote 'Paryatan' or those who promote 'Palayan'.”

Slamming the opposition, PM Modi asserted, “These people are adding fear to the name of Uttarakhand, from where brave soldiers have born from every house, whose children are not afraid in front of enemy’s bullets and cannons. Congress has no bonding with Uttarakhand, we know this, the whole state had experienced it. But I would ask them to at least read and write about Uttarakhand, get some knowledge.”

Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra, PM Modi said, “See what has become of Congress...only the brother-sister duo is left campaigning. Don't they have any other leaders in the party? Today, their own leaders do not want to be with the party. Then, how can they give you anything?”

Calling for high voter turnout, PM Modi requested citizens of Uttarakhand to come out and vote in large numbers.

PM Modi’s departure statement ahead of his visit to France and Slovak Republic
June 13, 2026

At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic and H.E. Mr. Robert Fico, Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, I will be undertaking a visit to France and the Slovak Republic from 13 to 18 June 2026.

France occupies a special place in India’s strategic vision. Earlier this year, President Macron visited India and we elevated our relationship to a Special Global Strategic Partnership. When I meet President Macron in Nice, we will review the progress made since February, and chart the next steps in our cooperation. I look forward to our discussions on pressing global issues of mutual interest as well.

In Nice, I also eagerly look forward to inaugurating ‘Bharat Innovates’ along with President Macron on 14 June 2026. This landmark event, being held against the backdrop of the India-France Year of Innovation, will connect India’s most promising start-ups with global investment and serve as a major accelerator for innovations emerging from India's higher education ecosystem.

From Nice, I will travel to the Slovak Republic for a State Visit from 14-15 June 2026, the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister since Slovakia’s independence in 1993. This historic visit builds on the strong momentum in our bilateral relationship. I look forward to holding discussions with President Pellegrini and Prime Minister Fico in Bratislava. I will also have the opportunity to interact with Slovak business leaders. Building on the momentum of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, the visit will further energize our Strategic Partnership with the European Union, of which Slovakia is an important and valued member.

From Slovakia, I will travel to Evian, where I will participate in the G7 Summit on 16 and 17 June 2026. India’s presence at the G7 reflects the trust our partners place in us and our growing global profile. This is the 8th consecutive G7 Summit to which India has been invited. At the G7, India will not only speak for itself, but it will also give voice to the aspirations of the Global South.

I will conclude my visit to France in Paris on 18 June 2026 where I will attend the VivaTech 2026 alongside President Macron. VivaTech is Europe’s foremost gathering of technology and innovation, and India will have the largest national pavilion at this edition, a fitting symbol of the enormous potential for partnership between Indian and European innovation ecosystems. I also look forward to meeting the members of the vibrant Indian community in Paris, who have been a living bridge between our two nations.

I am confident that my visits to France and the Slovak Republic will reinforce India’s deepening engagement with both Europe and the G7, and showcase our steadfast commitment to expanding the horizon of our partnerships with the continent and beyond.
