Even as he bid farewell to Gujarat and headed for Delhi to be sworn-in as India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi once again showed his compassion and commitment to girl child education

Before leaving for Delhi, Shri Modi donated Rs. 21 lakhs from his personal savings towards the upbringing and welfare of the daughters of drivers and peons employed with the State government. A corpus fund would be created for this and a foundation would be set up for its administration, under the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary.

Shri Modi has always been committed towards ensuring girl child education, and for this he had initiated the Kanya Kelavani campaign in Gujarat. The gifts received by Shri Modi were also auctioned and the proceeds were donated to the Kanya Kelavani Fund.
