Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore meets PM Modi
 
H. E. Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
 
The Prime Minister recalled the successful visit of H. E. Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore, to India in October 2016, and appreciated the follow-up action taken by both sides on the decisions taken at the Summit.

Mr. Shanmugaratnam congratulated the Prime Minister on the successful roll-out of GST. He briefed the Prime Minister on the progress in bilateral relations, especially in the economic domain.

The Prime Minister appreciated the close bilateral cooperation in sectors such as investment, urban development, civil aviation, and skill development. 

 The two leaders also discussed the potential for bilateral collaboration in banking, digital finance, tourism, and innovation.

PM announces ex-gratia from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a mishap at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Modi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Shri Modi also announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

The Prime Minister posted on X;

Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover at the earliest.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi
