Chief Minister presents 14 FGI Awards for Excellence at Federation of Gujarat Industries

“Gujarat to frame policy to produce defence equipment indigenously”

“Government of India should change parameters for MSME”

“New Textile Policy of Gujarat to attract maximum investment”

Ahmedabad, Monday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today presented 14 ‘FGI Awards for Excellence’ to captains of industries at a function of the Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI).

Felicitating the award winners on the occasion, he said it was important to experiment and invent for improvement in industrial, economic and social sectors.

After the announcement of new Vibrant Textile Policy, he said, Gujarat is set to attract maximum investment in the textiles sector during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit (VGGIS) from January 11 to 13, 2012 for the coming years. The emphasis will be on 5F’s formula.

He expressed happiness at Gujarat increasingly being selected as a venue of national, Asian and international seminars and conferences, providing an opportunity to experts here for exposure to the latest developments and exchange ideas with their counterparts abroad. The Chief Minister said that Gujarat Government would soon frame a policy to encourage indigenous production of defence equipment in the state, whether or not Union Government makes any move to check increasing dependence on imported arms and armaments. He also urged the Centre to change the parameters of MSME.

Earlier, FGI President Gita Goradia in her welcome address gave details of the federation’s activities. FGI Vice-President Amit Patel gave details of Investment Helpdesk.

Others present on the occasion included Vadodara’s MP Balkrishna Shukla, Mayor Dr Jyotiben Pandya, District Collector Vinod Rao and a number of industrialists and professionals.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi shared the outstanding speech delivered by Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, noting that it was filled with important facts, historical context, and a detailed account of the Government’s efforts over the past decade. Shri Modi highlighted that for decades, the retrograde Maoist ideology had an adverse impact on the development of several regions, with Left Wing Extremism severely affecting the future of countless youngsters.
