Beta, Beti Ek Saman! A society where women are not respected is one that cannot grow.

Question : Few districts in Gujarat historically had skewed girl to male child ratio. In the last ten years of your rule, this ratio has improved significantly in favour of the girl child. What steps did you take to change the social attitude towards the girl child?

  • You have touched an issue that is very close to my heart.
  • Adverse gender ratio is an imbalance that needs to be corrected.
  • We need to realize- Beta Beti Ek Saman (Both son and daughter are equal).
  • We created a mass movement. We did Beti Bachao Andolan, roped in help from doctors, spiritual leaders.
  • Today we have made great progress and there is a lot we can do which we are doing.
  • The situation will change in the coming days.
  • We have taken several other decisions too- if I allot a house I allot it to women, in schools we ask students to write their mother’s name first.
  • Today we have 100% girl child enrollment. This is an effort to bring a new revolution.
  • A society where women are not accorded respect and dignity that society cannot grow.

Prime Minister shares Sanskrit Subhashitam highlighting the importance of inclusive development and nation-building

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi said that when all-round development ensures positive transformation in the lives of every citizen, it gives fresh momentum to the progress of the nation. He noted that it is with this inspiring spirit that the country is continuously working to further strengthen India’s capabilities.

The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam-

“कन्यानां सम्प्रदानञ्च कुमाराणाञ्च रक्षणम्।

राष्ट्रस्य सङ्ग्रहे नित्यं विधानमिदमाचरेत्॥”

The Subhashitam conveys that ensuring the welfare of women, protecting and nurturing the younger generation, and continually making the necessary arrangements for the unity, security, prosperity, and orderly governance of the nation are the constant duties of every representative of the people.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;

“जब चौतरफा विकास के साथ हर देशवासी के जीवन में सकारात्मक परिवर्तन सुनिश्चित होता है, तब राष्ट्र की प्रगति को भी नई गति मिलती है। इसी प्रेरक भावना के साथ हम भारत के सामर्थ्य को निरंतर मजबूती देने में जुटे हुए हैं।
