ప్రధాన మంత్రి శ్రీ నరేంద్ర మోదీ ధరిత్రి దినం సందర్భంగా ఈ కింది సందేశాన్ని ఇచ్చారు:
‘‘ధరిత్రి దినం అనేది భూమాత కు కృతజ్ఞత తెలియజేసే రోజు. మన భూగ్రహాన్ని పరిశుభ్రంగాను, పచ్చదనంతోను నిండి ఉండేటట్లుగా చూసుకొంటామనే మన దృఢ సంకల్పాన్ని పునరుద్ఘాటించే రోజు కూడా.
ఈ ధరణిని మనం వృక్షజాలంతో, జంతుజాలంతో, పక్షుల సంతతితో కలిసి పంచుకొంటున్నాం కదా; మరి వీటన్నింటితోను సామరస్యపూర్వకంగా జీవించడమే మన కర్తవ్యం కావాలి. మన భావి తరాల వారి కోసం మనం ఈ పనిని చేయగలగాలి.
ఈ సంవత్సరపు ఇతివృత్తమైన ‘‘పర్యావరణపరమైన మరియు శీతోష్ణస్థితి సంబంధమైన సాక్షరత’’ ప్రకృతిని, ప్రాకృతిక వనరులను పరిరక్షించడానికి తగిన జాగృతిని ఏర్పరచడంలో తోడ్పడుతుందనే నేను ఆశిస్తున్నాను.’’
