குடியரசுத் தலைவர் உரைக்கு நன்றி தெரிவிக்கும் தீர்மானத்தின் மீதான விவாதத்துக்கு பதில் அளித்து மக்களவையில் பேசிய பிரதமர் திரு. நரேந்திர மோடி, ஒரு சமயத்தில் இந்தியாவில் மொத்த ஜனநாயகமும் ஒரு குடும்பத்தின் பிடியில் இருந்தது என்று கூறினார். மக்களவையில் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியை சாடிய அவர், நெருக்கடி நிலை அமல்படுத்தப்பட்டு பல லட்சம் மக்கள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதாகத் தெரிவித்தார். ``மக்களின் சக்திதான் ஜனநாயகத்தைக் காப்பாற்றியது. ஏழைக் குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்த ஒருவர் இந்தியாவின் பிரதமராக வருவதற்கு மக்கள் சக்திதான் காரணம்'' என்று பிரதமர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
