Prime Minister Pays Tribute on Swahid Diwas

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today recalled the valour of all those who were a part of the historic Assam Movement, on the occasion of Swahid diwas.

Shri Modi emphasized that the Assam Movement continues to inspire generations and reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to realizing the vision of cultural strength and holistic development for the state.

In his message on X, the Prime Minister stated:

“Today, on Swahid Diwas, we recall the valour of all those who were a part of the Assam Movement. The Movement will always have a prime place in our history. We reiterate our commitment to fulfilling the dreams of those who participated in the Assam Movement, notably the strengthening of Assam’s culture and the all-round progress of the state.”

“আজি শ্বহীদ দিৱস উপলক্ষে অসম আন্দোলনত অংশগ্ৰহণ কৰা সকলোৰে শৌৰ্য্যক স্মৰণ কৰিছো। এই আন্দোলনে সদায় আমাৰ ইতিহাসত এক গুৰুত্বপূৰ্ণ স্থান অধিকাৰ কৰি থাকিব। আমি পুনৰ উল্লেখ কৰিব বিচাৰো যে, অসমৰ সংস্কৃতিক সবল কৰাৰ লগতে ৰাজ্যখনৰ সৰ্বাংগীন উন্নয়নৰ সপোন যিসকল আন্দোলনকাৰীয়ে দেখিছিল, সেই সপোনসমূহ পূৰণ কৰিবলৈ আমি প্ৰতিশ্ৰুতিবদ্ধ।”

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today expressed joy and pride at the inclusion of Deepavali in the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List.

Responding to a post by UNESCO handle on X, Shri Modi said:

“People in India and around the world are thrilled.

For us, Deepavali is very closely linked to our culture and ethos. It is the soul of our civilisation. It personifies illumination and righteousness. The addition of Deepavali to the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List will contribute to the festival’s global popularity even further.

May the ideals of Prabhu Shri Ram keep guiding us for eternity.
