Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered high-energy addresses in Haldia, Asansol and Birbhum, galvanising supporters and setting the tone for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. Addressing massive gatherings, PM Modi invoked the spirit of past political transformation and projected a similar wave sweeping across the state. The Prime Minister underlined his ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ promise, but added that in Bengal ‘there will also be hisaab’, warning the TMC.

Recalling the political shift led by Nandigram and Medinipur five years ago, PM Modi said, “Medinipur and Nandigram showed the path of change five years ago. Now, the entire West Bengal has embarked on that very path of transformation.” He added, “What Nandigram achieved then, Bhawanipur will witness this time and the same change will echo across Bengal.”

The rally resonated with energetic slogans as the PM urged the crowd to join in, saying, ‘Paltano dorkar… Chai BJP Sarkar!’ The overarching theme of his address focused on restoring Bengal’s pride and setting it back on a path of growth and prosperity. PM Modi remarked, “This is not an ordinary election. It is about restoring Bengal’s glory, strengthening the foundation of a developed Bengal and taking the first decisive step by bidding farewell to a ruthless government.”

The Prime Minister contrasted India’s rapid economic progress with what he described as Bengal’s decline under the current state government. He said, “India is progressing at a fast pace, but the TMC government has pushed Bengal backwards on key development parameters.” He pointed to the industrial decline of Haldia and the migration of youth as indicators of governance failure.

On employment and youth issues, PM Modi accused the ruling dispensation of betrayal. “The youth of Bengal have been doubly betrayed, there are no private jobs and even government recruitments have been looted,” he said. Emphasising reform, he assured that a BJP government would ensure transparent, time-bound recruitment and organise employment drives.

Addressing economic potential, particularly in fisheries, PM Modi highlighted missed opportunities. “Despite immense potential, Bengal is not self-reliant in fish production. In contrast, states governed by BJP or NDA have doubled production and are now exporting,” he noted, adding that a double-engine government would unlock Bengal’s blue economy.

He also criticised the state government for not effectively implementing central welfare schemes. “Because these schemes carry the ‘PM’ tag, they are either renamed or not implemented, hurting the poor and the elderly,” he said

Focusing on women’s safety, PM Modi expressed concern over rising crimes. “In Bengal today, daughters are not safe be it on the streets, in schools or workplaces. This is due to the protection given to criminals,” he asserted, while assuring that a BJP government would guarantee safety and dignity.

Outlining his vision, the Prime Minister presented “Modi’s Six Guarantees” for Bengal, promising governance based on trust, accountability, strict action against corruption, justice for victims, protection of constitutional rights and implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission for government employees.

Addressing his second rally of the day in Asansol, PM Modi delivered a strong and emotive speech, highlighting concerns around women’s safety, governance and illegal infiltration, while calling for a decisive mandate in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections.

Invoking Bengal’s cultural and spiritual legacy, the PM said, “Bengal is the land of Shakti worship. This is the land that gave rise to brave women like Bimal Pratima Devi. But what has happened to that very Bengal under the current government?” He went on to reference recent incidents, stating, “From horrific cases like RG Kar to the disturbing scenes of Sandeshkhali, the situation reflects a deep crisis. Today, women in Bengal do not feel safe.”

Highlighting the aspirations of women, PM Modi said, “The women of Bengal want security and dignity. They want opportunities to progress and the facilities to move ahead in life. If there is one party committed to ensuring women’s rights, it is the Bharatiya Janata Party.” He pointed to initiatives such as the Namo Drone Didi and Lakhpati Didi schemes, along with housing under PM Awas Yojana, as steps toward empowering women economically and socially.

The PM sharply criticised the ruling dispensation, alleging a politics of fear. “For 15 years, TMC has used every tactic to hold on to power, fear in governance, fear in elections, fear in public life. But Bengal has defeated such politics before and it will do so again,” he asserted. Referring to recent developments, he added, “After 4th May, the real rule of law will begin in Bengal. Every act of hooliganism will be accounted for - Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Hisab hoga…”

Raising the issue of illegal infiltration, PM Modi said it remains a major concern for the people of Bengal. “Families that have lived for generations are now witnessing encroachment and demographic changes. In some places, even religious freedoms are being restricted,” he noted. He further alleged that such conditions have emerged due to deliberate political choices.

In his final rally of the day in Birbhum, PM Modi launched a sharp attack on the TMC, alleging large-scale irregularities in welfare schemes and calling for a decisive mandate for change in the upcoming Assembly elections. Targeting the implementation of MGNREGA, the PM said, “TMC has deceived poor families, Dalits and tribal communities even in the name of MGNREGA. Fake job cards were created, work existed only on paper and funds were misused.” He added, “The central government has brought the ‘G RAM G’ law. You form a BJP government here, and we will implement it ensuring new opportunities for farmers, livestock rearers and fishermen.”

Focusing on farmers’ distress, particularly in Birbhum, PM Modi highlighted the plight of potato cultivators. “Birbhum is known for its aloo posto, but the current government’s policies are destroying potato farming. Farmers were promised procurement, but their produce was left to rot. Some farmers have even taken extreme steps, this is a serious crisis,” he said, calling for accountability.

In a call for political change, he remarked, “This betrayal must be punished. Bengal needs change, Ekhon bodol chai…” The crowd echoed his call, reinforcing the demand for transformation. Concluding his address, PM Modi called for decisive voter participation. “On 23rd April, every vote will shape Bengal’s future. Press the lotus button at every booth and ensure a government that delivers development, dignity and security,” he urged.
