Our mantra for Nagaland has been - Peace, progress and prosperity, and this is the reason people's trust in BJP is rising: PM Modi in Dimapur
Northeast was only used as an ATM by Congress. They used to withdraw money from this region and took it to Delhi, filling the safes of their masters: PM Modi in Dimapur
Earlier northeast had politics of 'DIVIDE', we have now transformed it into a 'DevINE' governance scheme: PM Modi in Nagaland’s Dimapur

Ahead of Nagaland Assembly Elections 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting at Dimapur in Nagaland today. PM Modi highlighted the constant endeavor of the central and Nagaland government that the state should grow by leaps and bounds. He said, “There is so much support for the BJP-NDPP government in Nagaland today because we are working day and night with a resolve for the rapid development of the North East.”

He alleged, “The governments of Congress and its allies have never given importance to the stability and prosperity of Nagaland in their politics. That's why there was always political instability in Nagaland during the Congress rule. Their policy was ‘Vote Paao aur Bhul Jaao’.”

He lashed out at the Congress party as their leaders from Delhi never looked towards Nagaland, and never gave importance to stability and prosperity in the state. Congress always ran the Nagaland government on remote control from Delhi. From Delhi to Dimapur, Congress indulged in familial politics.”

“Today, the Central government is giving free ration to thousands of families in Nagaland. This is happening because we don't consider the eight states of the Northeast as ATMs as the Congress party did. For us, the eight Northeast states are 'Ashta Lakshmi',” he added.

Prime Minister Modi, in an apparent jab at the Congress, remarked, “Earlier then Prime Minister said when the government released one rupee from Delhi, but only 15 paise reached the intended recipient. But earlier even this 15 paise did not reach the North East.”

While referring to the first Rajya Sabha member from the state, Phangnon Konyak ji, PM Modi said, “She is representing the talent and capability of the sisters and daughters of Nagaland in the Parliament of the country today. Apart from this, it is also a respect for the Naga culture that respects women. This is also our true tribute to Rani Gaidinliu.”

“Earlier, where politics of DIVIDE used to run in North East, we have changed it to DIVINE Governance model. Today we are running a special scheme in the form of PM-DevINE for the development of North East. Under this scheme, it is being ensured that the projects related to the development of North East are completed on time,” the PM said while addressing the huge gathering.

Talking about the Nagaland’s development in the field of connectivity, PM Modi said, “The National Highway network in Nagaland has almost doubled as compared to the year 2014. Nagaland is now connecting to Myanmar as well. Flights have been started from Dimapur airport in Nagaland on 8 routes to North East under UDAN scheme. Nagaland got its second railway station after 100 years. Work is also going on at a fast pace to connect the capital Kohima with the railways.”

“Nagaland has such a rich legacy of sports. The NDA government is working to make this sports potential of Nagaland useful for the country. With this goal, the Khelo India State Center of Excellence has been set up in Nagaland. With this, the youth of Nagaland are getting the best facilities in sports like Wrestling, Archery and Boxing,” he mentioned.

Addressing the gathering, he talked about how earlier people used to face a lot of difficulty in procuring ration. The PM said, “Those who had ration cards were unable to get ration after paying the money. Today, the central government is giving free rations to thousands of families of Nagaland.”

Stressing further on how the people have benefitted greatly from the centre’s initiatives, PM Modi said, “Our government is helping small farmers, tribal farmers. As connectivity is increasing in the entire region including Dimapur, so are the possibilities for small farmers. Huge steps have been taken in this year's budget to promote natural farming and Millets-Shri Anna. This will greatly benefit the small farmers, tribal farmers of Nagaland. This will also give a boost to the organic farming of Nagaland.
