Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted with the young professionals in a town hall programme at the New India Youth Conclave in Surat. The PM received a rousing welcome at the New India Youth Conclave.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the nation is changing and it has been possible because people have decided to change for a better India. Addressing the National Youth Conclave in Surat today, PM said the earlier  attitude was that nothing will happen or nothing will change. However, the mindset has been changed and it is visible now. He aid “at one point of time there was a mindset among people that nothing can change. We came and first of all changed that mindset–now everything can change. India is changing because Indians have decided to change”.

 Talking about India's strength, PM said ,“Terrorists attacked Mumbai, what happened after it? In our government, Uri happened, what happened after it? This is the change. The fire that was in the hearts of our jawans, it was in the heart of the PM too, Surgical Strike was the result. Uri terror attack didn't let me sleep, and what happened after that everyone knows. This is the change”.

PM said his Government's drive against black money was a bold and decisive step.

He added, " The public sentiment among the Indians has changed and this will change the country too, I have faith in it. Earlier, people felt that everything will be done by the people but we changed it. The country is bigger than any of us." 

 

On a lighter vein, PM said it is his fourth public engagement in a day, however He was not tired and rather asked people if they are tired to which he got a big no in reply.

On a a day-long visit to Gujarat, PM today laid the foundation stone for extension of Terminal Building of Surat Airport and inaugurated various developmental projects at Surat. He also dedicated state of the art Rasilaben Sevantilal Venus Hospital, Surat to the nation. PM  also dedicated National Salt Satyagraha Memorial in Dandi, to the nation.

Cabinet approves construction of 1200 MW Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh - Use this title for the last one

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved investment of Rs.14,105.83 crore for construction of Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project (HEP) on Lohit river in Anjaw District of Arunachal Pradesh. The estimated completion period for the project is 78 months.

The project with an installed capacity of 1200 MW (6 x 190 MW & 1 x 60 MW) is expected to generate 4852.95 MU of energy annually. As the first hydro project in the Lohit Basin, it will strengthen power supply in the State, support in peak demand management, and contribute to balancing the national grid.

The Project will be implemented through a Joint Venture Company between THDC India Limited and the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. Government of India shall extend ₹599.88 crore as budgetary support for construction of roads, bridges and associated transmission line under enabling infrastructure besides Central Financial Assistance of ₹750 crore towards equity share of the State.

The State will receive 12% free power and an additional 1% earmarked for the Local Area Development Fund (LADF), along with significant infrastructure development and socio-economic benefits for the region.

There will be significant improvement in infrastructure in Namsai and Anjaw District of Arunachal Pradesh, including the development of around 29 kilometres of roads and bridges, for the project which shall be mostly available for local use. Local populace shall also be benefitted from many sorts of compensations, employment and CSR activities.
