The grave concerns of defunct cotton mills and the dying copper industry in the region were addressed by Shri Narendra Modi during his rallies at Ghazipur and Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, on the afternoon of 9th May. Shri Modi shared the BJP’s comprehensive Manifesto, which focused on dealing with the said concerns, and urged them to support the Party’s ‘development politics’.

Shri Modi attacked the State government for the lack of development, and spoke of how every segment of the society, be it the cattle-rearers or the farmers, was merely a votebank for them. He shared his vision to develop the defunct cotton mills in the State and renew the dying copper industry of the region, even as he added his focus on making Banaras a spiritual tourist attraction for the world.

The clarion call to free the Nation from votebank politics was given by Shri Modi, who also condemned the Congress President’s references to ‘unch neech ki raajneeti’. From how a Kerala MP was dismissed for his preference for the Gujarat model of development to how economists at the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, who stated that Gujarat was growing the fastest on the development front, were later removed, Shri Modi cited instances which proved the Congress’ penchant for votebank and divisive politics.
