Prime Minister shares Sanskrit Subhashitam highlighting the value and strength of daughters
January 22, 2026

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi said that in a country where daughters are revered as Lakshmi, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign was launched 11 years ago on this very day. He noted that it is a matter of great pride that today India’s daughters are creating new records across every field and contributing significantly to the nation’s progress.

The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam reflecting the timeless Indian ethos on the importance of daughters-

The Subhashitam conveys that a daughter is equal to ten sons, and the merit or virtue that a person attains from ten sons can also be attained from a single daughter.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;
