Government of Gujarat provides support to the people coming back from Libya and going back to their home in Gujarat

In the wake of ongoing strife in Libya, the evacuation of Indian nationals living in Libya started on 26th February. Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Gujarat directed that people hailing from Gujarat should be provided all support and received at airport. Accordingly, Office of the Resident Commissioner, Government of Gujarat in Delhi has made all arrangements for their reception, local transport, stay, food, medical assistance at Delhi and onward transfer to their home in Gujarat. RC office has also set up a help desk at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal–2, which is continuously manned by two persons. They can be contacted on cell no. +91– 99537 10027.

At the Immigration Centre, Protocol Officer has been deputed to receive Gujaratis coming back from Libya at such a distressful time. The telephones facilities are also provided at the airport to enable evacuee(s) who want to speak to their near and dear ones in Gujarat. On arrival, food, drinks etc. are provided. Arrangements have been made for consultation with the doctors. If someone is

working in a company, arrangements have been made to coordinate with those companies so that their representatives reach the airport and take care of such persons. In case of other people, RC office makes arrangements for their onward journey to their destination in Gujarat.

In case, there are gaps in the flights or any evacuee wants to take rest or consult a doctor or wants to catch up flight next day, they are brought to Gujarat Bhawan and boarding, lodging, etc. is provided. As many of them might have gone through traumatic period, services of doctors are also available at the Bhawan. At the Gujarat Bhawan, proper care is being taken and Government bears all costs for their local stay, food, medical assistance, travel to airport, etc. From Delhi to back home in Gujarat, air tickets are also provided. The Protocol Officer from RC office accompanies them to airport to help them in catching their flight to Gujarat.

Till date, total 29 persons have been provided facilities who returned from Libya. A Control Room at Gujarat Bhawan has been set up, which is manned 24-hours by staff. The contact numbers are 011–4627 8700 and 4627 3200. In addition, to these telephone numbers, Shri Madhukar P. Shukla, Assistant Resident Commissioner has also been appointed as a nodal officer to coordinate all efforts and he can also be contacted on his cell no. 99537 10024.

Prime Minister Welcomes Release of Commemorative Stamp Honouring Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed delight at the release of a commemorative postal stamp in honour of Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II (Suvaran Maran) by the Vice President of India, Thiru C.P. Radhakrishnan today.

Shri Modi noted that Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II was a formidable administrator endowed with remarkable vision, foresight and strategic brilliance. He highlighted the Emperor’s unwavering commitment to justice and his distinguished role as a great patron of Tamil culture.

The Prime Minister called upon the nation—especially the youth—to learn more about the extraordinary life and legacy of the revered Emperor, whose contributions continue to inspire generations.
