Government of Gujarat provides support to the people coming back from Libya and going back to their home in Gujarat
Round the clock Control Room set up at Gujarat Bhawan
In the wake of ongoing strife in Libya, the evacuation of Indian nationals living in Libya started on 26th February. Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Gujarat directed that people hailing from Gujarat should be provided all support and received at airport. Accordingly, Office of the Resident Commissioner, Government of Gujarat in Delhi has made all arrangements for their reception, local transport, stay, food, medical assistance at Delhi and onward transfer to their home in Gujarat. RC office has also set up a help desk at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal–2, which is continuously manned by two persons. They can be contacted on cell no. +91– 99537 10027.working in a company, arrangements have been made to coordinate with those companies so that their representatives reach the airport and take care of such persons. In case of other people, RC office makes arrangements for their onward journey to their destination in Gujarat.
In case, there are gaps in the flights or any evacuee wants to take rest or consult a doctor or wants to catch up flight next day, they are brought to Gujarat Bhawan and boarding, lodging, etc. is provided. As many of them might have gone through traumatic period, services of doctors are also available at the Bhawan. At the Gujarat Bhawan, proper care is being taken and Government bears all costs for their local stay, food, medical assistance, travel to airport, etc. From Delhi to back home in Gujarat, air tickets are also provided. The Protocol Officer from RC office accompanies them to airport to help them in catching their flight to Gujarat.
