गुजरातमधल्या साबरमती आश्रमाच्या शतक महोत्सवी वर्ष समारंभाला आज पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी उपस्थित होते. आज जगाला भेडसावत असणाऱ्या आवाहनांचा सामना करण्याची ताकद महात्मा गांधींच्या विचारांमध्ये आहे, असे त्यांनी या कार्यक्रमात सांगितले.
समाज म्हणून आपल्या इतिहासाशी बंध कायम ठेवणे गरजेचे असल्याचे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले. श्रीमद राजचंद्रजी यांच्या 150व्या जयंतीनिमित्त त्यांच्या योगदानाचे स्मरण करताना पंतप्रधानांनी त्यांच्या जीवनाबाबत आणि विचारांबाबत संशोधन करण्याचे आवाहन केले.
“स्वच्छता” ही सवय झाली पाहिजे. ती महात्मा गांधींना 2019 मध्ये त्यांच्या 150 व्या जयंतीनिमित्त आदरांजली ठरेल, असे मोदी म्हणाले.
साबरमती आश्रमाला भेट देण्याचे आवाहन त्यांनी जगभरातल्या लोकांना केले आहे.
गोरक्षकाबद्दल कठोर शब्दात वक्तव्य करताना पंतप्रधान म्हणाले, “आपली भूमी अहिंसेची भूमी आहे. आपली भूमी महात्मा गांधीची भूमी आहे. महात्मा गांधी आणि आचार्य विनोबा भावे यांनी गोरक्षणासाठी केलेले कार्य अविस्मरणीय आहे.
गोरक्षण झाले पाहिजे”. मात्र गोपूजनाच्या नावाखाली लोकांना मारणे कदापि स्वीकार्य नाही, असे सांगत त्यांनी कठोर शब्दात निषेध केला. महात्मा गांधींना अशी गोपूजा कदापि मंजूर झाली नसती. आपल्या समाजात हिंसेला स्थान नाही. या देशात कुणाही व्यक्तीला कायदा आपल्या हातात घेण्याचा अधिकार नाही, असे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले.
आपल्या स्वातंत्र्य सैनिकांना अभिमान वाटेल असा महात्मा गांधींच्या स्वप्नातला भारत निर्माण करण्याचे आणि एकत्रितपणे काम करण्याचे आवाहन पंतप्रधानांनी नागरिकांना केले आहे.
