A synopsis of Gujarat’s impressive growth under the BJP and an affirmation of the Party’s continual focus on developing the State further was shared by Shri Narendra Modi, during his ‘Bharat Vijay rallies’ at Surendranagar, Kalol, Deesa, Himatnagar and Jamnagar in Gujarat, on 23rd April. Shri Modi also spoke of the Central government’s dissent in favouring Gujarat’s success story, and stated how, despite this, the State had risen to become the investment hub of India.

From their disinterest in addressing the concerns of corruption, unemployment or poverty, to their opposition to most of Gujarat’s pro-people policies and initiatives, like the Sardar Sarovar Dam, Shri Modi cited examples of how the Centre has been trying to derail the growth journey of the State. If Delhi did not have this anti-Gujarat Government, we would have had gates on Narmada and that would have helped people,” said Shri Modi. He further spoke of how the disruptive policies of the Congress had brought ruin to the cotton cultivation in the State, whereby the farmers had lost thousands of crores. “Who has stalled all this? This anti-Gujarat UPA government. If we win, you can imagine the progress,” said Shri Modi. He also spoke of how the Congress kept referring to secularism and ‘the poor’, instead of finding solutions to more critical issues of rampant corruption, unemployment and black money stashed in foreign banks, amongst others. “Congress is an expert at cheating the people. They are travelling across the nation but are they answering any question,” said Shri Modi.

Emphasizing the BJP’s focus on good governance and development, Shri Modi stated progressive initiatives mentioned in the Manifesto, which included the Pradhan Mantri Krushi Seechai Yojana to link the rivers and provide water to every corner of the country, and also ensuring a Minimum Support Price for the farmers whereby the price gets fixed at a 50% profit to the total input cost. “We need a government that is sensitive to the questions of the people,” said Shri Modi.

Shri Modi appealed to the people to send 300 Lotuses to Delhi and stated how Gujarat could play a key role in forming a strong and stable government in Delhi. He also recalled the contribution of Shri L K Advani and asked the people to support him.

“Members of the Bhikkhu Sangh, Mumbai met me and expressed joy on the Cabinet’s decision to confer the status of Classical Language on Pali and Marathi. They recalled the strong connection of Pali with Buddhism and expressed confidence that more youngsters will learn about Pali in the coming times.”
