Mr. Tadashi Yanai, the Chairman of UNIQLO, a leading Japanese garment company, called on the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today. The company aims to source garments from India.
Shri Modi welcomed Mr. Yanai’s interest in developing UNIQLO’s business in India, and highlighted the advantages that India enjoys in the garments sector, including availability of cotton, skilled manpower, robust infrastructure, a big domestic market and good ports for exports

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the country on the occasion of Guru Purnima. He said that, along with imparting knowledge, teachers infuse their students with positive energy and shape them through noble thoughts and values. The Prime Minister called upon everyone to make the ideals of their gurus a guiding force in their lives.
The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam-
“प्रेरकः सूचकश्चैव वाचको दर्शकस्तथा।
शिक्षकः बोधकश्चैव षडेते गुरवः स्मृताः॥”
The Subhashitam conveys that one who provides the right direction, imparts knowledge and truth, shows the righteous path, offers education and awakens an understanding of truth in life, paving the way for self-development. These are regarded as the six forms of a Guru.
The Prime Minister wrote on X;
“गुरु पूर्णिमा की सभी देशवासियों को बहुत-बहुत बधाई। गुरु ज्ञान के साथ ही अपने शिष्यों में सकारात्मक ऊर्जा का संचार कर उन्हें सुविचार और सुसंस्कारों से सुशिक्षित करते हैं। आइए, उनके आदर्शों को अपने जीवन का संबल बनाएं।
