PM Modi's remarks at joint press meet with PM of Denmark

Prime Minister of Denmark,

Members of the Delegation,

Friends of the media,

Good evening and Namaskar,

Excellency Prime Minister, thank you and your team for a wonderful welcome and hosting me and my delegation in Denmark. This is my first visit to your beautiful country. In October last year, I had the opportunity to welcome you in India. With these two visits, we have been able to bring closeness and dynamism in our relationships. Our two countries not only share the values of democracy, freedom of expression, and the rule of law but we both also have many complementary strengths.

During the India-Denmark Virtual Summit in October 2020, we gave our relationship the status of a Green Strategic Partnership. During our discussion todays, we reviewed the joint work-plan of our Green Strategic Partnership.

I am happy that significant progress has been made in various fields, especially in the areas of renewable energy, health, ports, shipping, circular economy and water management. More than 200 Danish companies are operating in various areas in India – such as wind energy, shipping, consultancy, food processing, engineering. There are many such areas, they are getting the benefit of increasing 'Ease of Doing Business' in India and our macroeconomic reforms. There are plenty of investment opportunities for Danish companies and Danish Pension Funds in India's infrastructure sector and green industries.

Today, we also discussed a number of regional and global issues, including India-EU relations, Indo-Pacific and Ukraine. We hope that negotiations on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement will be concluded as soon as possible. We stressed on ensuring a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. We called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and adoption of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the problem. We also discussed our cooperation in the field of climate. India is also committed to fulfilling the resolutions taken at the Glasgow COP-26. We have agreed to explore more opportunities for cooperation in the Arctic region.

I am sure that the relations between India and Denmark will reach new heights under your leadership. I also express my gratitude to you for hosting the 2nd India-Nordic Summit, which is going to be held tomorrow. And I thank you so much for joining the Indian Diaspora event today because you took the time to be there, it's a symbol of the love you have for the Indian community.

Prime Minister pays tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his 150th Jayanti

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has conveyed his heartfelt wishes to all people of Jharkhand on the occasion of the State’s Foundation Day. He said that Jharkhand is a glorious land enriched with vibrant tribal culture. Recalling the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Prime Minister noted that the history of this sacred land is filled with inspiring tales of courage, struggle and dignity.

The Prime Minister also extended his good wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of all families in the State on this special occasion.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modihas also paid respectful tributes to the great freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his 150th Jayanti. He said that on the sacred occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the entire nation gratefully remembers his unparalleled contribution to protecting the honour and dignity of the motherland. The Prime Minister added that Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s struggle and sacrifice against the injustices of foreign rule will continue to inspire generations to come.

The Prime Minister posted on X;

“जनजातीय संस्कृति से समृद्ध गौरवशाली प्रदेश झारखंड के सभी निवासियों को राज्य के स्थापना दिवस की बहुत-बहुत शुभकामनाएं। भगवान बिरसा मुंडा जी की इस धरती का इतिहास साहस, संघर्ष और स्वाभिमान की गाथाओं से भरा हुआ है। आज इस विशेष अवसर पर मैं राज्य के अपने सभी परिवारजनों के साथ ही यहां की प्रगति और समृद्धि की कामना करता हूं।”

“देश के महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानी भगवान बिरसा मुंडा जी को उनकी 150वीं जयंती पर शत-शत नमन। जनजातीय गौरव दिवस के इस पावन अवसर पर पूरा देश मातृभूमि के स्वाभिमान की रक्षा के लिए उनके अतुलनीय योगदान को श्रद्धापूर्वक स्मरण कर रहा है। विदेशी हुकूमत के अन्याय के खिलाफ उनका संघर्ष और बलिदान हर पीढ़ी को प्रेरित करता रहेगा।”
