PM's meeting with H.E. Md. Abdul Hamid, President of Bangladesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was very pleased and honoured to meet today His Excellency Md. Abdul Hamid, President of Bangladesh. Prime Minister lauded President Hamid`s contribution to Bangladesh`s War of Liberation and said it was a privilege to welcome a "Mukti jodha" in the week when Bangladesh celebrates the success of its liberation campaign.

HAMID N MODI (3)-684 They discussed the importance of economic cooperation and improved connectivity between India and Bangladesh for advancing prosperity in the two countries and for development and progress in the broader region. They agreed that India and Bangladesh should take the lead in fostering closer cooperation in the region.

Prime Minister thanked President Hamid for the invitation to visit Bangladesh and said he eagerly looked forward to an early visit.

The Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Sergei Lavrov, called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.

Foreign Minister Lavrov briefed the Prime Minister on the progress achieved in bilateral cooperation since the meeting of the two leaders in December 2025 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.

Foreign Minister Lavrov and PM exchanged views on various regional and global issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Ukraine and West Asia.

Prime Minister reiterated India’s consistent stand in of dialogue and diplomacy as the best way forward.

Prime Minister requested Foreign Minister Lavrov to convey his warm greetings to President Putin.
