Speaking in a public rally at Silchar, Assam, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi thanked the citizens of Assam for supporting in Panchayat elections. He said, “In the Panchayat elections that have taken place just a few days ago, you have also extended a lot of support to the Bharatiya Janata Party and our allies.”

On NRC front, Shri Modi said, “I am here to assure everyone that no Indian will be left out of the National Register of Citizenship, and I would like to congratulate Sarbananda Sonowal’s government, which despite all challenges is working towards implementing the NRC drive. Our government is taking every step possible to make sure that common man doesn't get much hassled, and that everyone's issues are heard.”

Exuding confidence in Citizen Amendment Bill, he remarked, “Our government is progressing constantly towards accomplishing Citizen Amendment Bill, which is deeply tied to our emotions & lives. It will make sure that no son or daughter of India gets harassed. If they are met with any misfortune, then instead of questioning them on their blood relations or the color of their passport, the bill will take care of every relevant issue and protect their individuality. I am very positive about the bill getting passed and that it shall shield every devotee of Mother India.”

Talking about the center’s contribution to the North-east, Shri Modi said that the Clause Six of Assam Accord that have been pending for over 30-35 years has finally been put to process by the central government. This would further secure, preserve and empower the social, cultural, lingual and heritage of Assam.

“We are constantly working to improve the ease of living of people of Assam & North-East. It is with this mindset that we are constructing a new bridge over the River Brahmaputra, so that even the remotest regions can be connected to urban areas & benefit from its resources,” he added furthermore.

Addressing a well-attended public rally in Sailchar, he said that we would never compromise with the country's sovereignty, security, resources and cultural heritage for votes, no one should doubt it.

Attacking the Congress Party, Shri Modi said that the Congress government had made brokers a part of every deal, every business had a middleman in the system but today the system of honesty has been raised, Intermediaries have been removed from the system. 

Whether it’s highway or railway, whether it’s airway or waterway or I-way, connectivity is being strengthened at every level, said the PM while speaking at a public rally.

“Our Vision is of Act-East and Act-Fast on East. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to review the situation and ongoing and proposed mitigating measures in the context of ongoing West Asia Conflict.

The Cabinet Secretary gave a detailed presentation on the global situation and mitigating measures taken so far and being planned by all concerned Ministries/Departments of Government of India. The expected impact and measures taken to address it across sectors like agriculture, fertilisers, food security, petroleum, power, MSMEs, exporters, shipping, trade, finance, supply chains and all affected sectors were discussed. The overall macro-economic scenario in the country and further measures to be taken were also discussed.

The ongoing conflict in West Asia will have significant short, medium and long term impact on the global economy and its effect on India were assessed and counter-measures, both immediate and long-term, were discussed.

Detailed assessment of availability for critical needs of the common man, including food, energy and fuel security was made. Short term, Medium term and Long term measures to ensure continued availability of essential needs were discussed in detail.

The impact on farmers and their requirement for fertiliser for the Kharif season was assessed. The measures taken in the last few years to maintain adequate stocks of fertilizers will ensure timely availability and food security. Alternate sources of fertilizers were also discussed to ensure continued availability in the future.

It was also determined that adequate supply of coal stocks at all power plants will ensure no shortage of electricity in India.

Several measures were discussed to diversify sources of imports required by chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals and other industrial sectors. Similarly new export destinations to promote Indian goods will be developed in the near future.

Several measures proposed by different ministries will be prepared and implemented in the coming days after consultation with all stakeholders.

PM directed that a group of ministers and secretaries be created to work dedicatedly in a whole of government approach. PM also instructed for sectoral groups to work in consultation with all stakeholders.

PM said that the conflict is an evolving situation and the entire world is affected in some form. In such a situation, all efforts must be made to safeguard the citizens from the impact of this conflict. PM instructed that all arms of government should work together to ensure least inconvenience to the citizens. PM also asked for proper coordination with state governments to ensure no black-marketing and hoarding of important commodities.
