To mark the celebration of 65th Republic-Day celebration, Gujarat Governor Dr Smt Kamalaji today, amid the tune of national anthem by the police band and aerial rose-petals showering from chopper; and atmosphere filled with patriotic feelings, had unfurled the tri-colour at Kankanole Ground at Himmatnagar town in Sabarkantha district, today. To witness this grand scenario of state level celebration of Republic-Day Celebration, thousands of people had thronged the place. Dr Kamalaji and Chief Minister Narendra Modi had offered high-headed, spirited salutes to the nation’s tri-colour. The duo had honoured the freedom fighters by offering them shawls and greetings of Republic-day.

Chief Minister has taken a lead in setting up a new and revolutionary trend ‘to make the people’s power as a partner in the celebration of the 65th Republic-day at each district headquarters’, and as a part of this main state level celebration function was held in Sabarkantha district.

Attentions and attractions of the large number of people and dignitaries attending the function were drawn by a large group of local school students through an exhibition of power of mind and body through various yoga-asanas. Various government departments and nigams had prepared as many as 41 tableaus that depicted the successful developmental yatra of the Gujarat.

Police band had attuned its music tunes matching with marching past parades of various security and law and order agencies to make the atmosphere very patriotic, thus, people lauded it with gaiety and fervour. The police-dogs, motor groups of police women and men, and groups of gymnasts had displayed daring stunts and power of body to win the applaud of the people.

SRP Group-2 women platoon had won the first prize for the best parade. While unarmed police group of Ahmedabad and sea coast guard had bagged second and third prizes, respectively. Mital Barot of women police had won trophy for her amazing bike-stunts. While, tribal department’s tableau had won the prize of the Best Tableau and second third prizes for tableaus were given away to the forest department and Raksha University. These prizes and trophies were given away to the winners by Honourable Government and Chief Minister.

Other who attended the function included, MP Mr Mahendrasinh Chauhan, former ministers Mr Praful Patel, Jaisinh Chauhan, Chief Secretary Dr Varesh Sinha, district panchayat president Mrs Hemlata Patel, Nagarpalika President Mr Shankarbhai, and other officers and dignitaries.
