On Thursday 26th September 2013 Shri Narendra Modi attended the 60th birthday celebrations of Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi in Amritapuri, Kerala. In a deeply motivating and inspirational speech, Shri Modi lauded the rich contribution of the Saints and Seers in building our nation, saying there in every corner of the country there are Saints and Seers who are doing noble acts of social service. Shri Modi stated that the real spirituality is living the Mantra of ‘Sarvajan Hitai, Sarvajan Sukhai’ and that it was our forefathers who taught us that more than everything else, we should wipe the tears of the poor.

Shri Modi praised the noble initiatives of community service being done by Mata Amritanandamayi. He affirmed that our Rishis talked about everyone’s happiness and Amma is showing the way to achieve that happiness for everyone. He went on to say that leading spiritual lights such as Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo dreamt of a glorious India and it is respected leaders like Amma and other Saints who are carrying forward that mission.

Narendra Modi ji said that India is a land that has given the Mantra of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and that we have lived this Mantra for ages. Referring to the unfortunate attacks in Nairobi, Peshawar and in Jammu this morning Shri Modi said, “There are two images that come to the mind. One of the attacks in Nairobi, Peshawar and Jammu and the other here. One side there are rivers of blood but here there is a Ganges of love.”

Congratulating Mata Amritanandamayi for the innovations in healthcare under her guidance Shri Modi noted that it was a big thing to see professionals and experts leave their respective careers to make a difference in the lives of the people. “Through Manav Seva, Mata Amritanandamayi is inspiring people towards Madhav Seva.” Shri Modi said he looked forward to attending Amma’s 100th birthday as well.

Shri P Parameshwara, the President of the Vivekananda Kendra delivered an inspiring address. He called the gathering a national celebration where people from all over the people are attending. He described Shri Modi as the nation’s pride, strength, hope and future.

Noted intellectual Shri S Gurumurthy described the gathering as a wonderful blend of science and spirituality. He said that when he saw Amma for the first time he felt how many would have felt on seeing Ramakrishna Paramhansa ji for the first time.

Others dignitaries who were present on the occasion were SNDP General Secretary Shri V Natesan, Nobel Prize winner Dr. Lee Hartwell, one of India’s most decorated police officers Shri Ajit Doval, Nivedita Didi ji, Shri Bhaiyyaji Joshi, Shri V Satish, Shri Ram Lal, Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi and Shri SS Dhindsa.

Prime Minister’s visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Prabowo Subianto, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will pay a visit to Indonesia from 6-8 July, 2026. This will be Prime Minister’s fourth visit to Indonesia and his first bilateral visit since the elevation of India-Indonesia ties to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2018. During the visit, Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with President Prabowo and review the progress made in the partnership. In Jakarta, Prime Minister will address a large gathering of the Indian Diaspora. India and Indonesia share historical and warm people-to-people ties. In keeping with these special bonds, Prime Minister will visit the Prambanan Temple complex at Yogyakarta, a prominent UNESCO world heritage site in Indonesia.

From Indonesia, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister will travel to Melbourne from 8-10 July, 2026. In Melbourne, Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Albanese. He will also call on the Governor General of Australia, the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC. During his visit, Prime Minister will also participate in the India-Australia CEOs Forum, where he will address a gathering of top business leaders from both countries. Prime Minister will also address a large gathering of the Indian Diaspora, who constitute a strong pillar of the India-Australia relationship.

From Melbourne, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Rt Honourable Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister will travel to Auckland for a state visit from 10-11 July, 2026. This will be the first state visit of an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in four decades. In Auckland, Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Luxon and review the entire gamut of the bilateral relationship, which has seen significant progress in the last two years, especially in the areas of trade and commerce and defence. While in Auckland, Prime Minister will also interact with prominent business and sports personalities. In a reflection of the strong people-to-people ties that exist between India and New Zealand, Prime Minister will address a large gathering of the Indian Diaspora during the visit.
