The BJP government in Haryana has been continuously carrying out development and providing a clean and transparent government for every community in the state: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed two large public meetings in Fatehabad and Kurukshetra in Haryana today. Addressing the jam-packed rallies, PM Modi lashed out the national security policy of the Congress party saying it was too soft on addressing national security issues thereby ‘betraying’ the soldiers of India.

Elaborating the BJP government’s approach to national security, PM Modi said, “No country can emerge as a superpower in the absence of a strong national security policy and hence we have spent the last five years in infusing vigour and strength in our armed forces and developing a coherent policy on national security that ensures greater security for all Indians while allowing no tolerance for terrorists and their sympathizers. This is why we conducted surgical strikes and air strikes against Pakistan-based terrorists to send our message to the world that India is well capable of defending itself.”

PM Modi also indirectly attacked the former Haryana government led by Congress CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda for fraudulent land deals during their term saying, “The Congress has done ‘Bhrashtachaar ki Kheti’ and the best proof for this can be found from Haryana itself where the former CM of Haryana and the remote-controlled government in Delhi bought farmers’ land at throwaway prices and were involved in huge corruption scams. In contrast, the BJP government led by CM Manohar Lal Khattar has been continuously carrying out development in Haryana for every community while providing a clean and transparent government to people.”

Enlisting the major strides taken by the BJP government in improving people’s lives since 2014, PM Modi said, “From constructing rural roads to satellites and from building highways to I-ways, our government has achieved historic milestones in enhancing the quality of life for every Indian.” He also took digs at the ‘Premvarsha’ politics of Congress and said, “Their actions totally contradict their words, on one hand they talk of ‘Premvarsha’ (politics of love and compassion’ while on the other hand, they rain down incessant abuses on me and my humble background, calling me names like ‘Neech,’ ‘mentally retarded,’ ‘Most stupid PM,’ ‘Maut ka Saudagar’ and even ‘Hitler.’ Is this the politics of love that Congress party espouses against its opponents? The people of this country remember every abuse hurled at Modi and will give a befitting response to Congress ‘Namdars’ on 23rd May.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has regularly stressed that to enable India to earn the tag of a developed nation; the key is to develop a robust support mechanism aided by technological innovation, which will facilitate the growth of startups and boost the innovation ecosystem in the nation. In 2022 while addressing the entrepreneurs, PM Modi described the present decade as ‘techade’.

Multiple programmes have been implemented since 2014 to recognise, develop and promote technological innovations through startups, making them capable of raising private investments and encouraging entrepreneurship and job creation in India.

There has been a conscious effort at the level of the central government to liberate entrepreneurship and innovation from the web of government processes and bureaucratic silos; second, to create an institutional mechanism to promote innovation; and third, to handhold young innovators and youth enterprises! Programs like Start-up India, Stand-Up India are testimony of such efforts.

Startup India initiative was launched in 2016 to build a robust startup ecosystem in the nation by supporting entrepreneurs through tax benefits, easier compliance, IPR fast-tracking and various other benefits. Eligible companies recognised as startups by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) get the scheme's benefits.

Since the inception of the scheme in 2016 till April 2023, India has over 99,000 DPIIT-recognised startups, which are spread across 56 diversified sectors. Out of these startups, more than 15% are in the sectors like agriculture, healthcare and life sciences, automotive, telecommunication and networking, computer vision, etc. Over 7,000 recognised startups are in sectors like construction, household services, logistics, real estate and transportation and storage, contributing towards urban concerns.

In 2017, the ‘Startup India Online Hub’ hosted startups, investors, funds, mentors, academic institutions, incubators, accelerators, corporates, government bodies, and other startup ecosystem players to discover, connect and engage with each other. Further, in 2017, the ‘Government e-Marketplace (GeM)’ was launched to enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement. This medium has now proved to be an enabler for increased market access to seller groups such as startups and MSMEs under the Make in India initiative. As of now, the GeM portal has more than 30 lakh products and 60 lakh sellers and service providers with an order value of over Rs. 4 lakh crore.

To assist young entrepreneurs and encourage technology startups, ‘Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE)’ was launched to promote tech entrepreneurship through financial and technical support. TIDE 2.0, which has been implemented since 2019, is expected
