Speaking at the inauguration of IITRAM, former Deputy Prime Minister of India and Lok Sabha MP from Gandhinagar Shri LK Advani lauded the good governance initiatives of the Gujarat government under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. Advani ji said that the BJP will form the Government in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and Narendrabhai will become the Prime Minister of India. He said that the inauguration of an initiative such as IITRAM, Shri Modi has showcased something very different. “I have seen this quality in Narendra Bhai for a very long time. Even before he came to power. He thinks on how to do things that are not there anywhere,” Advani ji said. He congratulated the organizers for starting an initiative such as IITRAM.

Shri Advani ji talked about the phenomenal development of the Sabarmati Riverfront and said that when he first saw the Sabarmati as early as in 1945, he was surprised whether this was the same Sabarmati that was associated with Mahatma Gandhi but when he sees it today, it is very impressive. On the development of the Sabarmati Riverfront Shri Advani said, “There is no second place in India where it is like this and it has all happened now.”

Advani ji opined that the Jana Sangh and later the BJP were born with the determination to give Surajya or good governance to the people, which would be in contrast to the humiliation of the colonial rule. Advani ji spoke at length about the work done by the NDA Government under Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said that the NDA kept prices under check despite economic sanctions and never compromised on national security. He also added that in months of coming to power the BJP government conducted nuclear tests, which raised India’s respect at the world level. Advani ji said that even creating of newer states happened peacefully during NDA times, referring to the blatant mismanagement by the Congress in Andhra Pradesh.

Shri Advani ji inspired the audience to work towards eliminating poverty, providing women safety and stated that the BJP and its allies are working in this direction. Advani ji also said that the last century may have belonged to the West and to nations like Russia but in the 21st century we must take India to newer heights and that institutions like IITRAM will play a major role in doing so. He thanked Shri Modi for inviting him for this function.
