CM lays stone for renovating Shamlaji Temple Complex at a cost of Rs.70-cr

Narendra Modi gives a call to fight social evils like gutkha and malnutrition through mobile ‘miss call’

Ahmedabad, Friday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for renovation of Shamlai temple complex in Sabarkantha district to provide better facilities to the pilgrims at a cost of Rs.70-crore.

Speaking at a largely attended function after paying his obeisance at historic Vishnu temple, he said the Gujarat Government has undertaken a planned development of religious places on the lines of Ambaji with a view to creating job opportunities even in remote tribal areas. It is planned to be linked to proposed international tourist circuit with Devnimori Buddhist relics. He felicitated donors of gold plated doors and the idol’s crown.

Mr. Modi also distribributed papers of costly plots and financial assistance to 29,535 homeless tribal farmers living Below Poverty Line (BPL), cheques to Sakhi Mandal women under Mission Mangalam Yojna.

He called upon the people to launch a mass movement through mobilr ‘miss call’ against social evils like gutkhas and malnutrition. The people of the district handed over the papers adopting 1,100 anaganwadis to the Chief Minister as part of the campaign to fight malnutrition.

Mr. Modi said that Gujarat Government has won peoples’ hearts by providing 16-lakh houses to people living Below Poverty Line (BPL), which no other government had done in the country. He exuded confidence that so long he is protecting the treasury of the state as the Chief Minister of Gujarat; no one would be allowed to lay his ‘hand’ in the treasury.

Education Minister Ramanlal Vora and Minister of State for Education Jaysinh Chauhan spoke on the occasion. Others present there included Minister of State for Home Praful Patel, Member of Parliament Mahendrasinh Chauhan, Legislators Dilipsinh Parmar, Udesinh Zala, ex-MLAs Ramilaben Bara, Deepsinh Rathod and Upendra Trivedi, District Panchayat President Hemlataben Patel, other party functionaries, District Guardian Secretary Ms Jayanti Ravi, District Collector Jayprakash Shivhare and DDO Ravi Kumar Arora.

The Prime Minister stated that the nation remembers with deep respect those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He noted that their courage, alertness, and unwavering sense of responsibility in the face of grave danger remain an enduring inspiration for every citizen.
