On Wednesday 22nd May 2013 Shri Narendra Modi congratulated Ms. Arunima Sinha, a former national volleyball player who has entered history as the first Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest.  Ms. Sinha scaled the world’s highest peak at 10:55 AM as a member of Eco Everest Expedition from the Tata Group.

Shri Modi Tweeted, Congratulations to Arunima Sinha. Inspiring story of determination & dedication that took her on top of the world!

Ms. Sinha faced immense adversity in the wake of her being pushed off a train for resisting chain snatching in 2011. Last year, she had climbed Mount Chhamser Kangri of Ladakh.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation today with the Amir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah.

The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving security situation in West Asia.

Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and reaffirmed India’s strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Prime Minister reiterated the call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy for earliest restoration of peace and stability.

Prime Minister thanked His Highness the Amir for his personal attention to the continued well-being and the safety of the large Indian community in Kuwait.
