Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Shahdara today. Hailing the people of the UT, PM Modi said, “the sweat of every single ‘Delhiwasi’ has helped the city reach where it is. We are here to make life easier for you; Delhi is not a city, it is cultural heritage of India. Delhi has given shelter to every Indian.”

PM Modi talked about the ending years of uncertainty faced by residents of unauthorised colonies. “For Delhi, unauthorized colonies were a big problem since decades. Every political party used it for votes but no one tried to solve the problem. It’s our government that solved this problem. We made laws to regularise the illegal colonies, ridding the people of Delhi of fear of getting their homes razed,” the PM said.

"People who never thought that they will ever be able to get their home registry done in their lives, are now seeing their dreams come true," he added furthermore. Attacking the Delhi government for stalling Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Modi remarked, "There are so many of works being done in country but the government here in Delhi doesn't want to give house to poor. I feel sad when I see that PM-Awas Yojana is not implemented in Delhi just because of the Delhi government.”

Also, Prime Minister Modi brought up the issues of abrogation of Article 370, construction of the Kartarpur Corridor, building the National war & Police memorial and the recently amended Citizenship law at the election rally in the national capital.

The Prime Minister accused the AAP government of dithering over Lokpal despite it having launched such a mega movement over the issue. He asserted, “For the first time, 10 crore people got toilets at their homes; for the first time 8 crore sisters got the gas stove at their houses; first time the people of this country got Lokpal, but Delhi is still deprived of it.”

Asserting that the Union Budget would help in creating new job opportunities, Prime Minister Modi said, “the Budget is going to give direction not only for this year but for this entire decade. The benefit of this Budget will be for the youth of Delhi, traders of Delhi, the middle class, poor and women.”

“There was a complaint from traders of country, including Delhi, that they face pressure from tax authorities. So, we started Indirect Tax Settlement Scheme last year. After this, there was demand that such a scheme be started for direct taxes. In this budget, we fulfilled this, remarked PM Modi.

“In this budget, it has also been taken care that middle-class taxpayers have more money to save. The government has now given the option of a new slab of tax. This slab is also simple and there is no pressure to invest in certain schemes only to save tax,” he added furthermore.

Hitting out at the opposition’s anti-national activities, PM Modi said, “These people were doubting ability of our forces during surgical strikes. Do citizens of Delhi want such people in power? These people are saving those who want to break India into pieces. There is a political design behind all these protests including Jamia and Shaheen Bagh.”

PM Modi appealed to the people of Delhi to come out in large numbers to vote for a strong government which is corruption free and urged citizens to elect the BJP-led government.
